Han Hyo-joo involved with G-20 Summit

Newest Hallyu Star Han Hyo-joo, together with two top athletes – figure skater Kim Yuna and footballer Park Ji-sung - has been named as publicity ambassador for the upcoming G20 summit.  The summit is to be held in Seoul on November.

Through a press release on Wednesday, the G20 organizing committee announced that they are appointing the trio as PR ambassadors to promote the global event to the public for the next four months. It also explained:

Since the G-20 Seoul summit is an international event through which Korea will become the center of the world, we commissioned Han Hyo-joo, who is recently receiving spotlight as the newest Hallyu star, along with the two top athletes as publicity ambassadors.

The Group of Twenty (G-20) is made up of finance ministers and central bank governors from19 countries and The European Union.  The G-20 summit is a premier global forum for key economic discussions that support growth and economic development across the globe.

Upon receiving the news of her national appointment, the actress was exhilarated, saying:

As a proud citizen of the Republic of Korea, I want to be of help, even if it’s not much, in letting the public know the importance of the Seoul G-20 summit and bring out their participation and support.

 More details on the trio’s activities as PR ambassadors will be released on the summit’s official website soon.  The appointment ceremony will be held on July 28.

Han, 23, made her debut in the sitcom Nonstop 5 and has since acted in numerous films and dramas, such as Spring Waltz and Iljimae.  She became extremely popular after starring in highly-rated hit drama Shining Inheritance. She is currently starring in, yet another hit TV series, Dong Yi – Jewel in the Crown as the titular role.

Kim, 19, is the most celebrated Korean figure skater ever and has won numerous World Championships.  She is currently ranked No.1 in the world by International Skating Union (ISU). She has had an amazing skating career since the age of 7 and has earned many notable achievements, including being the first female skater to ever surpass the 200-point mark under the ISU Judging System.

Park, 29, is regarded one of the most talented soccer players from the country.  He led the national team to its first “Round of 16″ stage in the recent 2010 World Cup. He currently plays for the English club Manchester United and is also the only Korean player to have won the UEFA Champions League.
