IU, Yesung, and Jonghyun to Leave ‘Immortal Song 2′
After airing the very first episode, it has been decided that IU will no longer be a participant in KBS‘s, Immortal Song 2. Her reason for departure was due to her tightly packed schedule regarding other commitments, such as her MC role for Inkigayo and Kim Yuna‘s Kiss & Cry. In addition to her current activities, representatives revealed,
“IU will unfortunately be leaving the program in order to focus on her upcoming album, which is scheduled for release later this year.”
Secret‘s Song Jieun will be a newly added participant. 2PM‘s Junsu and FT Island‘s Lee Hongki will be taking part in the show shortly after.
PD Kwon Jaeyoung revealed,
“IU, Yesung and Jonghyun will leave Immortal Song 2 because of their other schedule. IU has left the show with the broadcast of last week’s episode and Yesung and Jonghyun will leave the program with the third episode which will be broadcast on the 18th. It’s unfortunate that we can’t show the original members growing with this change in members. However, we think it’s good that we can give more opportunities to more idol stars.”
The show also received criticism for its similarities to MBC‘s I Am A Singer in which he replied,
“I think it’s because the format is similar. Just like how Great Birth is different from Super Star K, Immortal Song 2 will definitely be a different program than I am a Singer.”
The second episode will air June 11th at 5:50PM. The featured songs for the episode will be by Boohwa.
