SNSD’s Sooyoung’s birthday inspires fans to serve community

It seems that the kindness of SNSD knows no boundaries, as it has overflown and spilled right onto the fans of the group themselves. On February 10, SNSD member, Sooyoung, celebrated her 23rd (22nd in western age) birthday. How did her fans respond?

 

 

Not only did they decide to have a public announcement via a large newspaper advertisement and a trending Twitter hashtag, a group of fans also took it upon themselves to perform community service as a way to show their love for the singer and give back to the community.

This is not to say that this is the first time this has occurred. Every year, for each of the nine members’ birthdays, the official fanclub (CISTUS) holds events for charity and other equally respectable causes in the name of the respective SNSD member.

With such passionate fans, it is safe to say that the term ‘sone‘ has gone beyond a simple fandom, to become a way of life, as affectionately displayed in this quote:
