Day 2: Winners at the 27th Golden Disk Awards Concert in Kuala Lumpur
Korea’s Most Prestigious K-Pop awards ceremony ends with a bang!
The final day of Samsung Galaxy The 27th Golden Disk wards in Kuala Lumpur (GDA) started off with a collaboration duet of Way Back Into Love by emcees FT Island‘s Hongki and Dasom from SISTAR, originally sung by Hugh Grant and Haley Bennett. Long-waited fans were treated to the final line-up of artistes such as T-Ara, Miss A, Lee Hi, Ailee, Secret, Heo Gak, Teen Top, Epik High, f(x), K.Will, SISTAR and G-Dragon.
T-Ara then took over the stage with their Sexy Love, Lovey-Dovey and Roly Poly. Miss A performed Touch and their song from latest mini-album Independent Women Pt 3 : I Don’t Need A Man.
New Rising K-Pop Star winners, B.A.P, Lee Hi and Ailee captivated the crowd with each of their own uniqueness. B.A.P blows the stage away with their song Power and Warrior. Lee Hi performed 1,2,3,4 and sang Mamado which was originally by a British singer Pixie Lott. Meanwhile, Ailee with her hands cuffed, performed Rihanna’s Umbrella and her own single I Will Show You.
Dressed in their classy and sexy outfits, Secret lit up the stage with their Talk That, Poison and Love Is Move. The idol group had a Special Stage Performance with B.A.P for Starlight Moonlight and Crash. f(x) lighten up the stage with their performances Jet and Electric Shock and not long before Teen Top came out and performed To You and Crazy. K.Will and HyoLyn then had a Special Stage Performance together, Endless Love. SISTAR performed Alone and Loving You.
After Epik High performed Get Out The Way and Love Love Love, Epik High’s Tablo and G-Dragon teamed up to perform Light it Up for their special stage. Touching the hearts of many, vocals powerhouse K.Will performed Please Don’t Go and I Need You while Huh Gak soothed the audience his love ballads. The Person I Used To Love and One Person which was one of the OST in the Korean drama titled: BIG. Calling the 2 Special stage performances LEGEND K-Pop <GIRLS> , the beautiful & gorgeous ladies Miss A dances to S.E.S I’m Your Girl and T-Ara performed I Can’t Cry by Fin.K.L.
All wait is over. G-Dragon had the stage all by himself performing One of a Kind, Light it up, Crayon and last but not least, Heartbreaker.
After the performances by G-Dragon, Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen graced the awards show as she stepped on stage to announce the winner of the Digital Daesang (Song Of The Year) Award. The award inevitably went to global phenomenon K-Pop artist PSY for his record-breaking viral hit Gangnam Style. Even though PSY was unable to attend the awards show, he left us a video message to thank all his fans for showing so much support and love for him and that he would come back with a more addictive choreography and music video in 2013. He added: “This is my first time that I’ve received the Daesang Golden Disk Award since my debut in 2001. I will continue to work hard to sing and bring better performance in the future.”
Attended K-Pop stars and their fans all rocked the venue with Gangnam Style in celebration for PSY.

Day 2: The 27th Golden Disk Awards Red Carpet in Kuala Lumpur
More than 15,000 fans and reporters gathered for the Samsung Galaxy 27th Golden Disk Awards in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.
Stars and fans attended the two-day event at Malaysia’s motor circuit Sepang International Circuit, which started on January 15. The prestigious event was split into two days and recognised winners who had achieved success in physical sales and digital sales.
As fans cheered and screamed, the stars for the second day of the event arrived swiftly, one-by-one, in luxury SUVs, and then stepped onto the red carpet.
In order of their arrival: Ailee, Heo Gak, B.A.P, Teen Top, K.Will, Miss A, Secret, f(x), T-Ara, SISTAR, Epik High, Lee Hi & G-Dragon.
The idols dressed glamorously for the event, often known as the Korean equivalent of The Grammy’s. It is South Korea’s most prestigious K-POP music awards show and is presented annually for outstanding achievement in the music industry. Award categories are based on the most popular K-POP music from the past year based on the digital downloads industry whilst bolstering the creativity of pop music and finding talented artists.
The red carpet fashion on Day 2 of Golden Disk Awards are even more glamorous and stunning! It is like a wow-factor!
Ailee was spotted showing off her bare back dress with shiny dangling lines along with her thigh-high split dress that revealed her long legs. Teen Top took red and dressed in it from head-to-toe to match with their black-checkered prints.
Powerhouse singers, K.Will and Huh Gak, wore black slim suits, while rising star and YG Entertainment’s latest sensation, Lee Hi, posed hand-in-hand with G-Dragon on the red carpet.
Lee Hi, who has ranked at the top with her debut single, 1,2,3,4 said that she was grateful to be invited. She said: “I’m so grateful for the love and support that the fans shown me and hope that tonight will be a great night. Thank you so much!”

Media : Welcome to Malaysia! This is the first time that GDA is being held in Malaysia. Can you tell us how you feel about this, and do share with us what you have to say to our Malaysian fans?
Ailee : First of all, I’m very honored to be here at the Golden Disk Awards in Malaysia. This is my first time so I’m very excited to be here. Thank you very much for inviting me. Very excited to perform in here and I hope everyone will enjoy my performance that I’ve prepared as well. Thank you!
Media : Welcome to Malaysia! This is the first time that GDA is being held in Malaysia. How do you feel and what you have to say to your Malaysian fans?
Heo Gak : This is my first time to be in Malaysia, and it is so hot that I feel like I’m going to die. However, I have prepared great performances tonight. So, I hope we will enjoy it together. Thank you!

B.A.P : It is our first time participating at the Golden Disk Awards. We had our showcase in Malaysia before, and we are so grateful that the fans are as passionate as before. Thank you very much!

Teen Top : We are so grateful to be here with so many great singers. We are so grateful that there are such a great support for us. Thank you!

K.Will : It is my honor to meet you all tonight. This is my first time in Malaysia. 2012 was such a great year for me and I had such a great achievement in my career. It was all because of the great love that the international fans have for K-Pop and that everyone loves me. I’m so grateful that the fans were singing my song in the airport upon my arrival. I hope that 2013 will be a great year for me as well. Thank you!

Miss A : We came to Malaysia last year and we are very happy to see you all in Malaysia again.

Miss A : We always wanted to say thank you very much for supporting us. Even though we are very far apart, we still able to get your supports from your messages. Thank you so much and we love you!

Secret : It is our honor to be here at the Golden Disk Awards with other K-Pop stars. It is so cold in Korea right now, but we are so grateful that it is really warm here. f(x) : We are really happy to be here and we had really good memories here. Although it is really hot here, we will enjoy it.

f(x) : We are really happy that 5 of us can come to Malaysia to see our Malaysian fans. Previously when we walked the red carpet, there were a lot of fans who screamed for us and raised f(x) fanboards. We are really grateful for the Malaysian fans. We hope there will be more chances for us to come to Malaysia to see all of you, and please continue to support us. Thank you!

SISTAR : This is our first time to be in Malaysia. We are so grateful to be in Malaysia. Epik High : Actually, we haven’t attend GDA in a while. We went on hiatus for a couple of years. It was a big change from 4 years ago. Now it has a much bigger venue. I love that we can do the show while looking at nature. As everyone knows, Epik High loves nature. We truly love mountains and tress. No kidding, we deeply love mountains and tress.
Media : What you have to say to your Malaysian fans?
Epik High : First of all, thank you for knowing who we are. We were given a big welcome at the airport. Even on Twitter, after I wrote that we were coming to Malaysia, fans greeted us. I’m surprised and grateful that fans and people over here know our music and know who are we. We are just too excited to be able to perform for you all. Thank you. Fight for your mountains and trees, they are beautiful!

He is no stranger to fans because of his active participation in many variety shows including Running Man and Family Outing. Day 1: Winners at The 27th Golden Disk Awards Concert in Kuala Lumpur
The 27th Golden Disk Awards opened with day one emcees CNBlue‘s Yonghwa, performing a cover of Payphone by Maroon 5 and Nicole from KARA showing off her infectious dance to R&B’s Ne-Yo‘s Sexy Love.
INFINITE then took centre stage to perform Chaser and Be Mine with their energetic and powerful dance moves. For the song Paradise, the idol group took off their sparkly silver jackets and capitivated the crowd with their black outfits.
The four day monstrous event started with recognition in successful artists who achieved greatest physical sales in 2012. Awards were presented in between performances as the idols expressed their gratitude for achieving the prestigious award.
Rising solo star Juniel performed her mesmerising mellow song Bad Man before sharing the stage with CNBLUE’s Jong Hyeon for Illa Illa and My Love. Both artists played the guitar so well, I hoped that they would collaborate on a track.
And then the fans screamed. Troublemaker Hyuna and Hyun Seung of BEAST lifted the temperature of the venue with their steamy song before rookies BTOB performed a number of their songs (Secret, Wow and Candle).
KARA’s performance was met with a technical glitch when the lights blacked out. Fans lead a chant for the idol group while Yonghwa distracted fans from the glitch with multiple crowd waves. After the glitch was attended, KARA returned to the stage to perform Pandora, Jumping and Step. 4minute performed Volume Up, Mirror Mirror and Hot Issue.
Pop rock idols FT Island changed the pace a little with their new songs from their 4th album. The band performed Life, Severely and I Wish. Following their senior’s performance, CNBLUE performed Hey You, First Step and their smash hit I’m a Loner.
BEAST performed Special, Beautiful Night and Fiction while B1A4 performed Good Night, Tried to Walk and Sechskies. Screams, cheers and then more screams,was all you could hear from fans screaming at the top of their lungs.
Dubbed as rookies of the year, EXO performed their powerful and charismatic debut song MAMA, History and Hot. The GDA winners of album of the year, Super Junior performed Bonamana, From You, Oppa Oppa before performing the lead song from their winning album, Sexy Free & Single. SHINee performed Lucifer, Stranger and Sherlock.

The idols dressed glamorously for the event, often known as the Korean equivalent of The Grammy’s. Black attire were popular among the stars, with BTOB, FT ISLAND, EXO, BEAST and SHINee spotting well fitted black suits. CNBLUE fittingly dressed in a blue suits with a matching blue bow tie.
The ladies of the night were inspired by floral colours with solo artist Juniel wearing a knee-high pink fluffy dress while 4minute arrived with an elegant floral-printed dress.

Rookies EXO, who is split into EXO-K and EXO-M achieved great success last year when they debuted with their hit song MAMA, which earned them 18 nominations including best rookies and artist of the year awards.
The group said that it was their first time attending an event as extravagant as The Golden Disk Awards and said that they were excited to perform.

BTOB : We do not have any specific plans yet but we are practicing hard right now.
Media : Will there be any showcase to be held in Southeast Asia?

Super Junior : Super Junior M just had a concert here and it has been a long time since Super Junior has seen their fans in Malaysia. We are so grateful to be here and please show the support and love that you have always shown us. We have prepared a lot of songs and we hope that it will be a great performance tonight!
