MONSTA X Makes Firm Resolution To Win Number One This Year
We’re cheering on you, MONSTA X.
In the recent airing of JTBC2’s ‘MONSTA X-RAY’, Korean boy group MONSTA X shared its desire to win first place on music shows. Members Wonho, Minhyuk, Shownu, and Jooheon talked about their New Year’s countdown wishes during their debut and present year.
“When we recall what we said back then (when someone asked ‘What do you want to do now?’), we said, “debut”, said Minhyuk. “At that time, it felt as if making a debut was everything in our lives,” Wonho expressed.
“Now, shouldn’t it be number one?” continued Wonho, to which the other members agreed. Rapper Jooheon added that although the group has received awards since its debut, he admitted that he “dearly wants to be number one” in music programs.
“I want to be number one so that our fans will feel proud,” Wonho said. “Let’s be number one this year,” he added.
MONSTA X made its debut in 2015 under Starship Entertainment. The group was formed through Mnet‘s survival show ‘NO.MERCY’ in 2015. In the same year, the septet released their debut single Trespass and first extended play (EP) of the same name.
In October 2016, MONSTA X released its fourth EP and the second part of The Clan series, THE CLAN, Pt. 2 <GUILTY>. The group promoted the EP’s title track, Fighter. The boys have also won various awards and nominations, including Male Dance Performance Award at the 2016 Seoul Music Awards and a disk bonsang at the 2017 Golden Disk Awards.
