SM Entertainment ‘exploited’ and controlled Kris like a pawn’

By  |

An undisclosed source has revealed to Yonhap News that SM Entertainment exploited Kris’s financial difficulties.

“SM (Entertainment) controlled him like a pawn or a control-target rather than offering him opportunities as a celebrity,” a source close to Kris said.

“SM has claimed an absolute authority in decision making for all of his performances, events and activities,” the source added.

The source also revealed that Kris had financial difficulties despite the group’s success in Asia.

“Over the distribution of profit, SM only showed him a self-made bill without any further detailed explanation. … This forced (him) into constant financial difficulties despite an overload of work and activities,” the source was cited as saying.

“We insist that SM has abused its superior authority over Kris to exploit him,” the source claimed, calling Kris’ exclusive contract with SM invalid because the contract overly limits his basic human rights.

10Asia and The Korea Herald confirmed that EXO-M’s leader has indeed filed the lawsuit to Seoul Central District court on May 15.

“A lawsuit regarding the termination of the contract has been submitted under Kris’s Chinese name on the 15th.” 10Asia’s article read.

SM Entertainment was quick to deny the allegations this morning but has since confirmed that it was looking into the facts.

“We are perplexed by the incident … we will do our best to keep EXO’s activities on track.” An S.M. Entertainment spokesperson told Yonhap.

I think he will prefer staying in China and become performer there (his home land)

Why was it only Kris out of all members who felt been exploited by SM?

What I want right is for Kris to sign a contract with another label, preferebly JYP, and they put him a group that allows him to show all the talent I’m sure he has and that Sm doesn’t allow him to show.

Sm ent should be banned from recruiting kids or minors or completely be closed. Their contract should be sceened. What are the labor laws of Korea in cases like these? It seems that SMEnt didn’t learned any lesson from the lawsuits filed against them by JYJ and Hangeng.

SM Ent don’t even know how to treat their artists well. Exo made a lot of profit to you but why you treat them like they’re nothing. Such a ungrateful stupido. Even you ask them to perform when they are in pain. EXO IS HAVING REALLY HARD TIMES WITH YOU SMENT. YOU SHOULD LEARN TO TREAT THEM WELL OR ALL OF YOU LABELLED ARTIST WILL FILE A LAWSUIT HAHAHAHAHAHA. Exostan will always be right there for Kris and Exo. You be better watch out. HAHAHAHAHAHA #WeBelieveInYouKris #WeMissYouKris

This shouldn’t happen at all. If SM were actually TRYING to treat their artists right instead of abusing their human rights, this wouldn’t be the case. I used to respect SM quite a lot, but when you add up all their abuse scandals and JYJ and Hangeng and Kris, you realise that SM’s ideas for what a good entertainment company should be are absolute rubbish. Success Museum is right. You’re treating them like items instead of people. Whatever Kris decides to do I will support him 200%.

I commend Kris for taking such a tough decision on his own. Poor thing was going through all this alone…without affecting any other members. I don’t know…Exo is so incomplete without Kris. I really really really hope Exo members will not go against Kris. I cannot imaging how devastating it was for kris. Kris is an educated, sincere young lad. I am 100% sure he made this choice after lot of consideration. Anger/frustration from the members are obvious but I hope they will come to realization that Kris did whatever he has to do, to live happily. I will pray for you kris and your family, friends, members, haters, supporters…

sm knows how to promote their artists well.. but unfortunately their way of treating their artists sucks!! like..really!! Kris has a point though. you cant treat someone like a toy. a web showed that Kris is guilty. they said that he ran away to canada several times… caused Exo to delay their activities. what??!! come on!! sm gave them a one day rest. ONE. DAY. how can he recover from a tight schedule in one night. plus, CEO Young Min is killing their artists… hated by sm fans actually. most of sm fans hate the company but love the idol. dont get me started with fans. crowded by many fans at airports. seriously?? you can see a sea of human when exo arrived at airports. i still remember the time when exo m perform overdose. the mc asked tao if he is alright because his body temperature is hot (edited out) .. he performed even though he is sick. sm treated their artists badly. they dont have enough rest, medical treatment isn’t provided and low profit. now, do tell me sm, you still wanna make kris as the bad guy???
p/s: sorry for my bad grammar

SM does not deserve the amazing artists that they have. I hope another entertainment takes Kris (despite the fact that they will have to pay compensation for the damned contract.) Maybe YG?JYP? CUBE?…

If sm monitored exo a lot they will be monitoring exo harder now, and EXO m is going to have a really hard time

    May 16, 2014 at 12:27 am

Wow is scary when sm says that they will keep track in EXO activities, exo members will have a hard time with sm and more now that sm is training a new group. Kris should have at least warned the other members of exo or exo m because he is their leader, so that the members of exo could prepare themselves for what is going to happen to them. I hope there aren’t any really bad consequences.
But he has the right to defend himself but I hope he considers his band mates in his choices and they can part in good terms.

    this is really sad…
i though SME already learn their lesson with JYJ and Hangeng…
    apparently not…
    seriously SME,,,you lose Kris….you going to pay…
you should know the power of SUJU, TV5XQ and EXO fans…
    be prepared….

let KRIS continue his contract in other agency and let BURN the SM ENTERTAINMENT so that it will close permanently.. Only the SM ENT SUCKS!

    May 15, 2014 at 6:35 pm

and that’s again one of the reasons why I don’t like SM Ent…from what I know, they don’t treat their idols as humans, but just as a source of money. Just remember what happened with JYJ and Hangeng from SuJu…I’m not saying anything against the groups/idols at all! I like and respect them for the hard work they do, but I’m just getting more and more angry about the Entertainment…
