19 K-Pop Concerts In The Philippines That Made 2017 Worth Reliving
We say goodbye to 2017 with a grateful heart as we ready our feels for 2018.
The year 2017 is officially closed. And as we start the new year, let us look back at the K-Pop acts, concerts, and fan meetings in the Philippines that gave Filipino fans beautiful and once-in-a-lifetime memories to take in 2018 and for a lifetime.
Reminisce the moments with Hellokpop as we recap the K-Pop concerts that made 2017 worth reliving.
January 24: K-Beauty and Jay Park
K-Pop fans in the Philippines welcomed 2017 with AOMG founder Jay Park at the K-Beauty Philippines: 1st Showcase of Beauty Products organized by Yeppunonnie, in cooperation with Ouniwang.
The 30-year-old singer-songwriter performed “Nothing On You” by American singer Bruno Mars, his hit songs “Ain’t No Party Like An AOMG Party”, “All I Wanna Do”, “Mommae”, “Solo”, and “Joah”.
February 5: Sung Ha Jung Returns to Manila For His Fifth Visit
South Korean guitar prodigy Sung Ha Jung commenced the love month with his pre-Valentine show Sung Ha Jung Live in Manila 2017 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila on February 4.
Jung gifted the fans with soothing melodies from his then-latest album L’Atelier and “Flaming” from his earlier album Monologue. He also performed covers of other acts including BIG BANG’s “Last Dance”, Sting’s “Englishman in New York”, The Carpenters’ “Close To You”, Yiruma’s “River Flows In You”, and BTS’ “Blood, Sweat & Tears”.
The guitar prodigy highlighted his pre-Valentine show with a medley of South Korean drama OST such as “Stay With Me” by EXO’s Chanyeol and Punch, and “Beautiful” by Crush. He ended his show with a special cover of “Tadhana” by Filipino band Up Dharma Down.
February 16: AxisB Sweetens Valentine’s For Filipino Fans
Valentine’s was extra sweeter for fans of South Korean boy group AxisB as Doah, Junghoon, Daeyoung, Juno, and Honey kicked off their first Philippine Tour at Robinsons Town Mall, Malabon on February 14.
We were fortunate to witness the five-member group in an extended Valentine’s celebration at Robinsons Forum, Mandaluyong on February 16.
AxisB performed their first digital single “Curious”, and new tracks “Be My Love” and “Stay”. They also covered songs from fellow K-Pop artists BTS and BIG BANG with “Blood, Sweat & Tears” and “Fxxk It”, respectively.
February 25: EXO Dominates SMART Araneta Coliseum
And that is not an understatement. EXO caused post-concert depression for fans who witnessed the Philippine domination of the popular boy group at EXO’rDIUM in Manila.
Held on February 25 and 26 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, the two-night concerts were definitely unforgettable as Suho, Xiumin, Chen, D.O., Kai, Chanyeol, Sehun, and Baekhyun made the last weekend of February 2017 a night to remember with acoustic renditions of their hit songs, elf costumes, cheesiness by Suho, Xiumin’s discovery of feet stomping, and hip-hop stage.
A concert would never be complete without the unstoppable love of fans. EXO-Ls made sure that their love for the boy group reach the members through their banners and silver ocean.
So lucky to have you. So lucky to be your love 😍😍😘#EXOrDIUMinManilaDay1
March 2: It Was #5HINEEINPH at One K Global Peace Concert
One K Global Peace Concert “shookt” Manila on March 2 at the SM MOA Arena. It was a night of advocacy and unity, partnered with stellar performances from B.A.P, BTOB, B1A4, AOA, CNBLUE, SHINee, and PSY.
We remember that concert as the night B.A.P’s Jongup showed no mercy on the dance floor, the night B1A4 ripped our mouths smiling with their sprout dance and aegyo, the night AOA served the best aegyo and sexy expressions, the night BTOB’s Sung Jae said “Magkita ta ugma (Let’s see each other tomorrow), the night CNBLUE’s Yong Hwa won our hearts with his fan service, and the night PSY got us all dancing to “Gangnam Style”.
And, we remember One K Global Peace Concert as the first and last time Manila will ever see OT5 for SHINee. The five-member boy group made Philippine Shawols wait worth it as they performed “View”, “Everybody”, “1 of 1”, and “An Encore”.
It’s a bit late, we know, but, hopefully, our sincere words will reach Jong Hyun wherever he is. Kim Jong Hyun did well that night.
May 7: BTS was lit!
We know you are no longer surprised. BTS might have set the highest recorded temperature in Manila on May 6 and 7 at the SM MOA Arena as they set the stage on fire with blazing performances.

The 2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III THE WINGS TOUR was a testament on why BTS is one of the hottest K-Pop acts of their generation. Jin, RM, V, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, and Jung Kook showered ARMYs with so much good memories – from “2 Cool 4 Skool” solo stages, a trip down memory lane of their early hits, and dorky antics.
And how can we forget Jin’s “Gigil nyo si ako” and V’s fluency in Filipino? Their one-week stay in the Philippines definitely bore fruits. But, most importantly, BTS’ Wings Tour was not ordinary thanks to Filipino ARMYs who took time, resources, and effort to make their fan projects a success. Philippine flag ocean? ARMYs did that.
July 7: Super Moments At The Mission I: Super Pop Con 2017
Imagine this: VIXX, B1A4, B.A.P, BTOB, PENTAGON, B.I.G, and Kriesha Tiu in a concert. Just wow, right? Yet, it happened. Mission I: Super Pop Con 2017 was held at the SM MOA Arena on July 7.
The seven K-Pop acts delivered a “super-charged” concert and one of the biggest K-Pop concerts the Philippines has ever witnessed.
We saw PENTAGON and watched their breathtaking performance of “Beautiful”. BTOB impressed us with their perfect harmony in “I’ll Be Your Man”, while VIXX treated us to an OT7 and a live performance of “Shangri-la”. We got to see the live performance of “A Lie” by B1A4.
Kriesha Tiu gifted us with her rendition of Filipino song “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana”, while B.I.G captured our hearts with their charms through “Hello”. It was also a complete B.A.P as Bang Yong Guk was here. And honestly, we never get tired of the sextet’s “No Mercy”.
September 1: “Daragon” Happened at ACT III: M.O.T.T.E. in Manila
The internet went into frenzy when it was announced that 2NE1’s Sandara Park will join BIGBANG’s G-Dragon in his first ever solo concert in the country, ACT III: M.O.T.T.E. in Manila, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on the first day of September.
“Daragon” did not disappoint. All feels exploded when the two took on the stage, performing songs such as “Hello” and “Missing You”.

“Daragon” shippers had their wish come true, but ACT III: M.O.T.T.E. in Manila was more than that. It was a night when G-Dragon bared Kwon Ji Yong to his loyal following through performances of tracks from his latest self-titled album and previous hits.
September 2: B.I.G Returned For Their First Solo Showcase
During their first visit in Manila, B.I.G has successfully recruited fans onto the growing fanbase with their music and charms.
J-Hoon, Benji, Gunmin, Minpyo, and Heedo interacted with fans and donned stages of their tracks including “Hello” at the B.I.G ASIA TOUR in Manila on September 2 at the Music Museum.
September 22: Tae Yang Brightened The Night In His First Solo Concert in Manila
September was a gift to BIGBANG stans as they welcomed 2/5 of the boy group.
After G-Dragon, it was Tae Yang’s time to rule SMART Araneta Coliseum for his White Night in Manila concert. The singer performed his hit songs including “I Need A Girl”, “Eyes, Nose, Lips” and “Ringa Linga”.
He also sang BIG BANG’s “Bang Bang Bang” and “Fantastic Baby”, and his collaboration tracks with G-Dragon such as “Good Boy” and “Stay With Me”.

Although 2018 may not be as good as 2017 for fans of G-Dragon and Tae Yang as they are set to enlist in the military, but we will always be willing to wait for a complete BIGBANG concert.
September 23: Nam Joo Hyuk Won Hearts at His First Fan Meeting in Manila
There is no question that South Korean actor Nam Joo Hyuk has our hearts. From being the “200%” MV guy to being boyfriend goals in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, the model-turned-actor made us all swoon.
At his Private Stage [Close Up] in Manila, Nam Joo Hyuk sang Coldplay’s “Yellow”, spoke Filipino, and got emotional with his fans’ projects dedicated to him.
October 6: SEVENTEEN Checked In To Manila City
SEVENTEEN’s first visit in Manila got us missing The8 and Jun.
But, the South Korean boy group came back as OT13 on October 6 for the last leg of the 2017 SEVENTEEN 1st World Tour: Diamond Edge.
Held at the SM MOA Arena, the thirteen-member boy group showed Manila what SEVENTEEN is all about. Philippine Carats were treated to a full-course stages – from unit to group.
The South Korean boy group performed their latest songs from their A|1 album, as well as hits like “Mansae”, “Adore U” and “Pretty U”.
Carats also did not let the opportunity past to commemorate the first anniversary of the announcement of the group’s fandom colors with a cotton candy ocean.
October 13: Burn it up! Wanna One was here
Philippines welcomed South Korean boy group Wanna One to her shore on October 13 for Wanna One 1st Fan Meeting in Manila: Wanna Be Loved at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The eleven-member boy group performed their hits including “Pick Me”, “Never”, “Burn It Up” and “Energetic”.
We are keeping our fingers crossed to see Wanna One in Manila this 2018 before we say goodbye to one of 2017’s greatest creation!
October 28: K-Pop Republic Made a Comeback
It has been years since the first K-Pop Republic happened, but the wait was worth it as the second installment of the music festival returned with NCT 127, N.Flying, GFRIEND, and Cosmic Girls.
Held on October 28 at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds, K-Pop Republic 2 showcased the refreshing charms of GFRIEND, N.Flying’s musicality, Cosmic Girls’ beautiful and sweet stages, and the fiery performances of NCT 127.
Philippine NCTzens also got the opportunity to personally greet Win Win on his birthday.

November 11: Philippines Fell in Love with Park Hyung Sik
Because who wouldn’t? South Korean singer-actor Park Hyung Sik was generous to share his singing and personal stories at the 2017 Park Hyung Sik First Love in Manila held on November 11 at the KIA Theatre.
The singer-actor was also up for everything. Clad in traditional Filipino clothing barong, Park Hyung Sik tried different local specialties like sisig and sago’t gulaman, and fruits like guyabano and kamias.
And as promised, we would not let this video of Park Hyung Sik eating kamias be forgotten.

November 30: Jae Joong Fulfilled Filipino Fans’ Decade-Long Wish
Philippines waited 11 years for his return. And Jae Joong did not disappoint.
The JYJ member and actor answered fan questions, asked fans questions, played games, drank beer, ate Filipino foods, and much more.
The 2017 Kim Jae Joong Asia Tour Fan Meeting in Manila which was held at the SMART Araneta Coliseum was the best way to end November.
It has been years, but we can’t help but be nostalgic about Jae Joong dancing to TVXQ’s “Rising Sun”.

December 1: Dara Took the Center Stage at #PenshoppePresentsDara
We missed 2NE1’s Sandara Park on stage. Although she joined G-Dragon in his first solo concert in Manila, we couldn’t help but be greedy for more.
Clothing brand Penshoppe heard the clamor and gave Dara’s fans a good start to December with Penshoppe Presents Dara at the KIA Theatre.
Dara performed her versions of 2NE1’s hits – one of the night’s highlights.
December 9: Forever “Lodi” CNBLUE Intoxicated Manila with Music
We did not know a concert can make us drunk without serving alcohol until CNBLUE LIVE [BETWEEN US] in Manila.
Yong Hwa, Jong Hyun, Min Hyuk, and Jung Shin gave nothing short of remarkable last December 9 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. The band performed their hits such as “Love, “Cinderella”, “You’re So Fine”, and “Between Us” with utmost energy that did go down in the whole duration of the show.
And Yong Hwa must have found his new favorite word: LODI (idol), which perfectly described CNBLUE.
December 16: Dong Ho and Alexander Eusebio Reunited at JINRO Kristmas Party
JINRO Kristmas Party did not only bring a party in the Philippines last December 16, but it also reunited former U-KISS members Dong Ho and Alexander Eusebio.
Yup! The reunion is real! Had a FUN weekend with our maknae Dongho! Was really glad to see our baby boy matured so much. I must say, I still can’t believe he’s a father~ haha~ Still so young and fresh! Had a great time catching up and talking about the past. Yea, talked about so much ? too.?? But it felt like just yesterday with all the sweet memories from the past. Super nostalgic.? But well, we are both satisfied with where we are now so that makes us really happy. Who said separate paths would separate us? Hope we meet up again very soon. Perhaps with other members too? Well, let’s see if it’s fate. 🙂 Let’s continue to work HARD! FIGHTING!! #알렉산더 #동호 #오랜만에 #Xander #Dongho #reunion #NotYoung #nostalgia #since2007 #JunHOMeetsDongHO #Lame #UKISSZeroPointOne
