2018 Changwon K-POP World Festival Is Back In Malaysia – Submit Your Videos By June 8!
Calling all Malaysian K-POP fans! Following Kingsman impressive feat in Changwon last year, Changwon K-POP World Festival is back in Malaysia again!
Winner(s) of the Malaysian preliminary will stand a chance to perform at the Finals together with winners from all over the world. *subject to Semi-Final selection by KBS Selection Committee
Changwon K-POP World Festival/Changwon Festival (formerly known as K-pop World Festival) is a global event organised annually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Korea (MOFA) with the support of Korea Broadcasting Station (KBS) since 2011. The regional preliminary rounds are held in over 80 areas and 70 countries. Selected regional winner will represent its country/region to compete in Changwon, Korea on October 5, 2018.
The Changwon Festival is divided into two categories – vocal and dance/performance. Global online audition will commence in late April to June 6.

Applicants who qualified into the regional preliminary round (approx. 12 teams) will perform live at Taylor’s Lakeside University. The recorded live performance of regional winner of each category will be sent to MOFA and KBS for further evaluation, qualified regional winners will be sent to Korea to represent Malaysia.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia is proud to have two teams (Epsilon Kueen ’15 and Kingsman ’17) representing in the past KWF finals, and wish to have more teams to represent the country.

*Please ensure that no broken links are sent and the video setting is set to either “public” or “unlisted” on YouTube. The organizer ONLY accepts YouTube links and will not accept video attachment or other video hosting sites.
Online Audition Guidelines
This contest is divided into two categories – vocal and dance:
Vocal
– Record your performance using instrumental audio/accompaniment without the original singer’s voice. DO NOT record your voice over the original singer.
– Join as a solo or team, no limitation on number of vocalists in a team.
– Maximum TWO (2) backup dancers are allowed.
– Duration of the performance must not exceed 5 minutes.
– Only ONE (1) song is allowed for vocal category. Strictly no mixes.
Vocal with Dance
– Vocal is still the main evaluation for this sub-category, simple moves or steps can be added to enhance the overall performance.
– If you wish, you may submit both your Vocal and Vocal with Dance video links (i.e. two videos in separate links). However, if selected, only ONE out of the two performances sent will make it to the Regional Preliminary.
Dance
– The number of members of the cover dance team should not exceed the number of members of the covered K-pop group. It is STRONGLY ADVISED to form a group with the same exact number of members of the covered K-pop group. (e.g. Teams covering Twice can have 1 to 9 members)
– Duration of the performance must not exceed 5 minutes.
– Maximum TWO (2) song mixes by the same K-pop group is permitted for dance category.
Additional Guidelines
- Latest K-POP hits would be given preference.
- All versions of songs (i.e. Acoustic, Remix versions etc) are acceptable as long as it is Korean-pop.
- Editing of vocal recordings for online audition video (e.g. Auto-tune, mixing/layering vocals – minimal chorus backup is allowed) is strictly prohibited.
- Refrain from breaking dance routine with edits.
- The online audition round is for screening purposes only, and if you wish, you may perform a different song at the Festival (Malaysia Preliminary & Finals) should you be selected, with the approval of the Embassy.
- However, the song of choice at the Malaysia preliminary should be the same exact song that you will be performing at the Changwon Finals.
Eligibility
- Applicants and BOTH parents who currently hold or had held Korean citizenship in the past are NOT eligible to participate. (* Eligible if only ONE of your parents holds Korean citizenship)
- Applicants must have a valid visa for travel, not be restricted from travelling overseas and must be a resident of Malaysia.
- Applicants under the age of 18 are required to submit parents’ signed consent to participate with attached consent letter and ID copies.
