DAY6 Marks a Decade: First Outdoor Stadium Concert Becomes a Milestone Celebration

DAY6 celebrated their 10th debut anniversary with a landmark event: their first-ever outdoor stadium concert.

The band, known for their heartfelt songwriting and steady rise as one of K-pop’s most respected bands, staged the 10th Anniversary Tour 〈The DECADE〉 at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi-do on August 30 and 31.

For weeks, forecasts warned of rain throughout the weekend. But as if in sync with the band’s milestone, the clouds parted and a glowing crimson sunset filled the stadium sky on the final day. Fans—known as My Day—filled every seat, waving light sticks and singing along, transforming the venue into what felt less like a concert and more like a festival ten years in the making.

The two-day concert, both sold out in advance, was streamed live worldwide through Beyond LIVE, allowing fans across continents to join in real time. For DAY6, who began their career in 2015 with a small concert at the Yes24 Move Hall in Seoul, the sight of tens of thousands gathered at Goyang Stadium was both emotional and historic.

From Clubs to Domes to Stadiums

Over the past decade, DAY6 has built a reputation as one of the few idol bands able to fill arenas and domes while maintaining a distinct band identity. In December 2023, they became the first K-pop band to headline Gocheok Sky Dome, one of Korea’s largest indoor venues. The Goyang Stadium concert added another chapter: their first open-air stadium performance, signaling both longevity and growth.

Wonpil, the group’s keyboardist and vocalist, reflected on the journey with emotion. “It’s truly thanks to everyone here that we’ve been able to fulfill our dream of performing outdoors on our 10th anniversary,” he told the crowd. “It feels like a festival made together with DAY6 and My Day. That’s why I think it’ll be unforgettable.”

He recalled their earliest days: “We had our first concert at Yes24 Move Hall in 2015. It was very small. To be here now, 10 years later, in Goyang—it feels surreal. Yesterday already felt dreamlike, but today I want to fully take in the humidity, the wind, the temperature, and enjoy this moment. Thank you for coming today.”

Honest Reflections and Gratitude

Leader and guitarist Sungjin also spoke candidly, reflecting on the work and gratitude that carried them to this point. “Looking at today’s setlist, I felt proud that we’ve worked hard and haven’t skipped a single song,” he said. “But just working hard doesn’t mean success. It doesn’t guarantee this much love. It’s you who made us who we are.”

He continued with a message of commitment: “We’ve been doing this for 10 years, and I plan to continue as long as I can. Until then, I’ll give you all the love you deserve and do my best to return it fully. Let’s keep supporting each other and live well together. Thank you so much. I love you.”

Drummer Dowoon added his own heartfelt message, acknowledging the group’s role in fans’ lives. “I think the reason our band exists is to give you strength and comfort. I hope you’ll walk with us for the rest of your lives,” he said. “I’m not perfect, but because so many of you love me, I’ll work hard to be a positive influence. When times are tough, come to us. I’ll stand tall like a tree.”

A Decade Behind, a New Chapter Ahead

As the band performed against the backdrop of the sunset, fireworks lit up the night sky, closing the show in spectacular fashion. The concert was not only a retrospective of the past decade but also a symbolic opening to the next.

DAY6 will release their new full-length album The DECADE on September 5 at 6 p.m., led by the double title tracks “Dream Bus” and “INSIDE OUT.” The project represents both a commemoration of their 10 years together and a new chapter in their story.

For fans, the Goyang Stadium shows were more than a concert—they were proof of what persistence, sincerity, and community can achieve. For DAY6, they were a reminder of how far they’ve come, and a promise that the journey is far from over.
