[CONCERT RECAP] slchld Captivates Crowd With Resonating Music In First Solo Concert Live In Singapore
It might be a cold, rainy Monday in Singapore but slchld’s melodic vocals and comforting tracks have definitely warmed the crowd up.
Korean-Canadian lo-fi R&B singer-songwriter, slchld (pronounced seoul-child), whose real name is Jang Doo Hyuk, successfully wrapped up his first solo concert in Singapore at *SCAPE The Ground Theatre on October 2 (Sunday) and October 3 (Monday).
The Singapore leg of the tour is part of his Southeast Asia tour which kicked off in Bangkok in June. This also marks slchld’s live debut in Singapore. He not only showed his charms on stage but also captivated the audience with his resonating music. Here’s a breakdown of what happened at slchld’s live concert in Singapore last Monday.
The second day of slchld’s live concert in Singapore was opened by lullaboy, a Singapore-based R&B singer-songwriter, who hyped the crowd up before slchld’s appearance. After several songs from lullaboy, slchld then graced the stage with his amazing vocals by kicking off his stage with “obsidian”.
He then continued the first set of the concert with more of his hit songs such as “alright”, “camellia”, “huge mood”, “seam of life” and “pieces”. slchld also surprised the audience with a performance of his new unreleased track “hate me” and revealed that fans can anticipate the official release of the track in November.
Prior to the start of the concert, Symmetry Entertainment, the organizer of slchld’s live concert in Singapore, went on to their official social media platforms to ask fans to submit any burning questions that they might have for slchld. Several fun questions were picked and we got to know more about the artist himself better through his fun answers.
Who would have thought that slchld was a graphic designer and started his music career rapping before he became one of the most popular names in the Korean R&B scene and a favorite amongst the lo-fi community that he is today!
When asked about the type of songs or artists that he would recommend his fans to listen to, slchld shared that he enjoyed listening to hyper music especially when he is in the shower, and hence, recommends his fans to listen to “Cautious Clay”.
Furthermore, when asked about his favorite color, slchld shared that he likes yellow because the color yellow represents everything that he is not as a person. He also mentioned that he sees himself as more of a grey-toned person but hopes that he can become lively and cheerful like yellow someday.
After the short Q&A session with the audience, slchld resumed the second set of the concert with “you won’t be there for me”, “holly’s ego” and “maybe we need a break”, “love me at my worst” and “best for you”.
Time flies when you are having a good time and it was soon time to say goodbye. slchld wrapped up his Singapore show with “lone summer” but of course, the crowd could not let him leave without an encore performance. He granted the crowd’s wish and bidded Singapore goodbye with a special bonus performance of “she likes spring, I prefer winter”.
slchld’s arrestingly sedating vocals and comforting tracks definitely beat everyone’s Monday blues, leaving a big smile on the crowd’s faces as they enthusiastically waved their flashlights and sang along with him. With that, a mesmerizing Monday with slchld has come to an end and we hope to see him back in Singapore again soon!
