Nam Joo Hyuk sports a mesmerizing look once again on the April issue of Esquire.

During the photo shoot, Nam Joo Hyuk perfectly embodied the Dior Man Freepol collection. His extraordinary aura shone through with his deep eyes and pensive facial expressions.

Nam Joo Hyuk in The Light in Your Eyes

In an interview after the pictorial, Nam showed generous affection for his role as Lee Joon Ha in the jTBC drama The Light in Your Eyes.  “Lee Joon Ha was the type of man who wanted to do a really good job. Thus, I did not want to miss anything about Joon Ha. Therefore, I shot the drama without any makeup. I thought it would work if I did it like that,” the actor said.

Remarking about how he was happy to have a drama where the scenes felt like natural conversations with his co-stars, Nam was also honest about the pressure from the word “actor”. “I started acting when I was twenty years old, and since then, I never thought of myself as ‘actor Nam Joo Hyuk’. Instead, I just thought of myself as Nam Joo Hyuk. It was still very difficult to put the word actor before my name.”

Nam further shared that when he first decided to act, he did not think he would be able to perform well right away. However he still wanted to try hard. Even ten years after, he would still be willing to try hard.

He thought he would be an actor who people would want to see in dramas 5 out of 10 times. “My first goal as an actor is to choose roles people can sympathize with,” he shared.

He also said that his life was so sweet and precious. Therefore, he continued to pressure himself to improve. “I always think I’m scarce. Thus, I promise to be better than last year. At the end of every year, I remind myself to become a better person for the coming year, but I have not always reached that standard. Hard times can be shaky and tiring, but it will not  last forever,” he admits.

Reminding himself to always try again, Nam shared that he wants to challenge himself further even if he fails. Nam revealed that he would watch his recent drama with his mother, who enjoys seeing him on TV.  He was elated to see his mother happily watching the drama.
