To celebrate her birthday, here are just a few of the countless occasions on which the main vocalist of Girls’ Generation has shown off her incredible voice.

Taeyeon – U R

“U R,” a track from Taeyeon’s debut EP, I, is about someone precious who helped replace loneliness with safety, solace, and hope. The song begins with the songstress’ voice sounding like a summer breeze, the kind of gentle wind that you hope to feel in the middle of the afternoon heat.

And then, she goes on to deliver the heartbreaking lyrics with her clear and euphonious voice. Particularly, the continuous high notes after the bridge somewhere at 3:10 further proved her to be a powerful vocalist that is able to perform both with technique and emotions.

Taeyeon – Into the Unknown (Frozen 2)

Taeyeon has been called the “Korean Elsa” by fans. And it was a wonderful moment when she had the chance to perform her own rendition of “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2 for the Korean version of the film’s closing credits.

How such powerful vocals comes out of the slim and slender body of Taeyeon is a mystery. She sings it so effortlessly, like she was just walking her dog, Zero, in the park, which only proved her title as the undisputed vocal queen.

Priority (with aespa’s Winter and TVXQ’s Max Changmin)

“Priority” is a track from the 10th winter album of SM Town, 2022 Winter SM Town: SMCU Palace, which was released on December 26, 2022. This is another song that flawlessly displayed Taeyeon’s impressive vocals.

It’s undeniable that Taeyeon’s voice has matured like a fine wine, whether she’s harmonizing with Winter, reaching the highest notes with Changmin, or just with the adlibs.

Girls’ Generation – The Boys

We were introduced to Kim Taeyeon’s top-tier vocal techniques as the main vocalist of the 2nd generation legendary girl group, Girls’ Generation. And out of the many tracks that demonstrated her wide vocal range, one of them is “The Boys.”

“The Boys” is the title track of the girl group’s 3rd studio album with the same name and has continued the rise in their career. In 2012, the girls made their US debut by appearing as guests on the Late Show with David Letterman and Live! with Kelly and Michael, and also performed the English version of the song at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Taeyeon in Dingo Music’s “Killing Voice”

If you are a fan, there was no greater gift than Dingo Music’s Killing Voice with Taeyeon. Not only did she perform the title track to her most recent album, INVU, but she also sang the songs that helped establish her as the vocal diva that she is today.

Specifically, Taeyeon fulfilled every fan’s dream to hear her sing “Drawing Our Moments” live. It’s from her 2nd repackage album, Purpose, which she had never performed live until Dingo Music’s Killing Voice, creating one that will go down in history.
