Ushering April 2019 Korean dramas are five stories which have different themes.
Signaling the beginning of Spring 2019 Korean dramas, the roster of K-Dramas about to premiere complements the existing heavy-plot themed lineup. With the exception of two eagerly-awaited romantic comedies, prep up your emotions well for these new K-Drama series.

My Fellow Citizens
Choi Si Won of Super Junior is confirmed to play the lead role together with actresses Lee Yoo Young and Kim Min Jung in the story of a veteran con artist who married a detective.
Choi Si Won portrays Yang Jung Kook, a conman who has never been caught by the police. He goes out to drown his sorrows when his girlfriend runs away with the money they are supposed to use for their marriage. While he is drinking, he meets Kim Mi Young (Lee Yoo Young) who turns out to be a detective.
My Fellow Citizens eyes its broadcast date on April 1 via KBS2. It will take over the Monday-Tuesday time slot occupied by My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2: Crime and Punishment.
Bannering stellar cast including Park Hee Sun, Choo Ja Hyun, Oh Man Suk and Jo Yeo Jung, Beautiful World aims to continue jTBC’s winning streak.
Taking a contemplative mood, Beautiful World aims to present stories of finding hope in the whirlwind of lies, betrayal and suffering prevalent in the real world.
Touching the sensitive issue of school violence, the series will spin the story of how a family searches for the truth behind their son’s unfortunate fate. Backing up the project is the writer-PD tandem, who worked on classic and contemporary drama hits such as School 2, The Devil, Shark and Memory.
Beautiful World is set to premiere on April 5 via jTBC.
Special Labor Inspector Jo
Reliable actors are set to parade MBC’s Special Labor Inspector Jo. The comedy drama stars Kim Dong Wook as a public servant who gets to the bottom of punishing business owners as a labor supervisor of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Ryu Duk Hwan and Park Se Young round up the main cast of this highly-anticipated social satire drama. Both Kim and Ryu have recently starred in well-received OCN dramas, The Guest and God’s Quiz 5. Meanwhile, Park last appeared on SBS acclaimed series, Money Flower.
Working behind the series is writer-PD tandem whose combined works include Ruler: Master Of The Mask and Angry Mom. Special Labor Inspector Jo takes the spot that will be vacated by Item on April 8.
Her Private Life
Based on web novel 그녀의 사생활 (Noona Fan Dot Com) by Kim Sung Yeon, Park takes the role of a closet fan girl whose regular job is a museum curator.
Her Private Life threads on the adventure of a woman, to be portrayed by Park, who has been nurturing her idol fan girl spirit for 20 years. While hiding her passionate idol following, she works as an art museum curator, a 180-degree spin to her vibrant life as a fan.
Playing the role of the new art museum director is Kim Jae Wook. The versatile actor recently wrapped up the brilliant OCN thriller, The Guest. His work in Temperature Of Love garnered plenty of second-lead feels for drama followers.
tvN’s new rom-com will premiere on April 10.
My First First Love
Netflix’s much-awaited series complements love mood with its Spring airing date. It centers around five young people who are struggling because of the first love they experienced in their life. Adding charm to the drama are lead actors Ji Soo, DIA’s Jung Chae Yeon and Jung Jin Young.
Jung Hyun Jung, responsible for hit dramas Five Enough and Discovery of Love, pens the Netflix original series. Meanwhile, Yong Pal director Oh Jin Seok takes the lead as the director.
Ji Soo portrays the role of Yoo Tae Oh, the male best friend of Jung’s character, Han Song Yi. The pair has been best friends for over 20 years.
Jinyoung will play the role of Seo Do Hyun, Yoo’s other best friend and Han’s boyfriend. Rounding up the cast are Kang Tae Oh and Oh Ga Rin. All five friends live in Yoo Tae Oh’s house.
The Netflix original series My First First Love will be released on April 18.
Mung Bean Flower
Solid casting of upcoming SBS period drama Mung Bean Flower (working title) hypes anticipation for drama fans of Yoon Shi Yoon, Jo Jung Suk and Han Ye Ri. The network brings in aforementioned actors known for their versatility and range.
Set in the background of the Donghak Peasant Movement in 1984, Jo and Yoon are set to portray as brothers from different mothers. Jo Jung Suk takes the role of the older brother who harbors resentment owing to his mother’s status.
Raised in an affluent family, Yoon Shi Yoon is set to become the treasured son, who is well-mannered with an elegant personality. The two brothers will be in the contending camps of the revolt.
Penning the drama is writer Jung Hyun Min, who last worked in drama Assembly. Helming the project is PD Shin Kyung Soo who directed popular period dramas Six Flying Dragons and Tree With Deep Roots. The combination of the creative team is raising expectations due to their reputation of deft and exciting fictional representation based on history.
Powered by stellar actors, this new series is eyeing broadcast release on April 27.
