2020 has been a year full of amazing Korean dramas, watching different genres helped the people survive the year. It was a tough year for all of us but thanks to Korean dramas, they made our year more meaningful and exciting. 

Our home was filled with a lot of good things to watch, and as we welcome the year 2021, it means we also have to prepare ourselves for another year of binge watching, from romantic-comedy to supernatural kind of genre. It is still an opportunity for each and everyone of us to enjoy ordinary days!

To give you more excitement, here are some of the forthcoming 2021 Korean dramas and prominent actors that you should not miss watching. 


The Silent Sea

First on the list is The Silent Sea, a sci-fi thriller series featuring some of the biggest and talented stars, Gong Yoo, Bae Doo Na of Kingdom, and the singer and actor Lee Joon who is expected to be returning on the small screen.

The Netflix series will be set in the future, when the earth is suffering from lack of food and water caused by desertification. Gong Yoo will be playing the character of Yoon Jae, a soldier in a space agency, who will join forces with Ji An who will be played by actress Bae Doo Na to travel to the moon, with a mission of retrieving a mysterious sample from an abandoned research station.


Love Alarm 2

One of the most successful Korean romantic Netflix series last 2019 is Love Alarm. Due to the immense popularity that it received from its first season, they will finally be returning back with another complicated yet romantic kind of love-friendship relationship. Love Alarm Season 2 will be starring again its original cast Kim So Hyun, Song Kang, and Jung Ga Ram.

The fans of the said drama are now looking forward to watching again their favorite leads and how their stories will finally unfold.


Kingdom: Ashin of the North

Kingdom: Ashin of the North is a sidequel from Kingdom season two and a backstory about the mysterious character Lee Chang’s group encountered on their journey north to discover the origins of the infected. The surprising appearance of Gianna Jun in the role of Ashin at the end of Kingdom season two intrigued audiences.

In this eagerly anticipated bonus story, Jun as Ashin will unveil the mystery behind her identity. Park Byung-eun, who made a lasting impression in Kingdom season two as the head of the Royal Commandery Min Chi-rok, is also confirmed to star. The new story will detail what had happened to Ashin in the past in the northern region and how the two characters’ fates intertwined.


Hellbound

hellboundNetflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service, has confirmed Yoo Ah-in, Park Jeong-min, Kim Hyun-joo, Won Jin-ah and Yang Ik-june as the leading cast for Hellbound, a new original series about supernatural angels appearing out of nowhere to condemn people to hell.

Based on popular webtoon Songgot, the series will be penned by its original author, Choi Gyu-seok. Calling the shots for the series is Director Yeon Sang Ho of Train to Busan and Peninsula fame.

The Netflix series will be directed by Yeon Sang Ho, who also made the film Train to Busan.


Annarasumanara

Netflix is taking the opportunity to adapt as many webtoons as it can in 2021, series Annarasumanara tells the story of a girl who has a childhood dream of becoming a magician, in an unexpected day she met a guy who happens to be a magician, would it be the sign for her to pursue her dream of becoming a magician?


D.P: Dog Day

This new Netflix series is expected to give an emotional impact to the viewers. D.P Dog Day is another webtoon adaptation about military people who are tasked with hunting down a group of military deserters, a guy named Ahn Joon Ho witnessed all the struggles of the young men who are trying to save themselves by escaping. Actor Jung Hae In will possibly be part of the main cast. 


Younger

Korean dramas are not complete without a romantic comedy genre, starring actor Sung Joon and Crash Landing on You star Seo Ji Hye, they will be working together in an American series adaptation with the same name.

The story will revolve about a woman who is mistakenly known for being twenty years younger than she actually is. She uses this opportunity to restart her career and live a new life. 

Move to Heaven

A family drama that will surely give you something new. The series was inspired by the non-fiction essay Things Left Behind.

Move to Heaven will tell the story of Gu Ru, after the death of his father he meets his uncle Sang Gu for the first time and they both decide to heal their traumas together. They learn various stories about the deceased, throughout their journey, Gu Ru and Sang Gu will experience a lot of emotions, thoughts, and feelings toward the meaning of life, death, and family.
