By  |

Save up big time with your Discover Seoul Pass!

It’s no secret how much savings you get by availing a Discover Seoul Pass because it allows you to enjoy 35 attractions for free for a period of either 24, 48, or 72 hours.

Although this benefit, in itself, is already outstanding, there more ways you can make the most out of your Discover Seoul Pass while saving you extra bucks to shop more at Myeongdong! So, grab your pen and paper — or better yet, have this article printed out — because I will list down six ways DSP saved me serious money during my trip to Seoul.

#1 You Get a Free T-Money Card!

With your Discover Seoul Pass, you do not need to get a separate T-Money card which will cost your 2,500 won or higher depending on the type of card. Moreover, having a T-Money card, in this case your DSP, gives you extra savings of about 100 won per ride when you ride subways and buses — something you will do often in South Korea.

Get Your Discover Seoul Pass Here.

The best thing about the T-Money function of DSP is that it does not activate the pass duration even if you used it to ride a subway or bus. Take for instance our case wherein we topped up our DSP on our first day in Seoul to get on a subway, but the pass duration only kicked off when we used it at a partner site on our second day.

#3 Free Coffee at Café Dalgang

THE BEST! Actually, before I got the Discover Seoul Pass, I was unaware that this is part of the perks of it. I only found out when I got the physical card which includes a brochure of partner attractions and establishments, as well as, the savings you will get when you use DSP.

Located at Namsangol Hanok Village, Café Dalgang is a relaxing coffee shop situated at the traditional village set-up. It’s very “Instagrammable”, to be honest. And so, before journeying to N Seoul Tower, my friend and I decided to drop by Namsangol Hanok Village — entrance is free here — and grab our free coffee at Café Dalgang.

I did not have much expectation about it, telling myself that they will probably give us the cheapest coffee in the menu. But, I was so wrong! The free coffee included in the Discover Seoul Pass is a coffee of your choice — a wonderful treat for someone like me who has been craving for iced coffee since Day 1 but keep stopping herself to splurge on it. I ordered a caramel macchiato and satisfied my craving, big time.

So, make sure to hit two birds with one stone — visiting Namsangol Hanok Village and chilling with your favorite coffee at Café Dalgang — using DSP. Reminder, though. The coffee shop is closed every Monday. On its opened days, it operates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time.

Told you! It’s “Instagrammable”. (Photo from Namsangol Hanok Village’s website)

#4 Explore the City or Simply Get on Your Destination with Seoul City Tour Bus (Seoul Tiger Bus) and Seoul Sightseeing Highlight Double-Decker Bus

If you avail Discover Seoul Pass, make sure you avail your free city tour courtesy of Seoul City Tour Bus and Seoul Sightseeing Highlight Double-Decker Bus. These buses traverse major landmarks in Seoul including the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Gwanghwamun Square, Geongbokgung Palace, Myeongdong, Itaewon, N Seoul Tower, and more.

For our part, we hopped on and hopped off the Seoul Sightseeing Highlight Double-Decker Bus whose ticket outlet is right in front of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. From there, we rode the bus to go to Gwanghwamun Sqaure which is near the ticket outlet for the Seoul City Tour Bus.

We use the Seoul Sightseeing Highlight Double-Decker to go to Myeongdong. Meanwhile, we utilized the Seoul City Tour Bus to explore the Han River through its night course, a non-stop run which gives you the opportunity to see Han River as the sun sets and the N Seoul Tower.

For the Seoul Sightseeing Highlight Double-Decker, Discover Seoul Pass users are only entitled to its traditional course. It stops at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Seoul Station, Myeongdong, Insadong, Jongmyo Shrine, Dongmyo Shrine, and more.

For the Seoul City Tour Bus, you get to choose from four courses namely the Downtown Palace Namsan Course, Panorama Course, Night Course, and Around Gangnam Course.Writer’s Note: Thank you to Discover Seoul Pass for making our trip to South Korea more fun and filled with experiences.
