Eight years ago, Apink bloomed to the top and became “It Girls” – through their hard work and dedication.

Today, Apink celebrates their eighth year in the music industry!

The girls stood out from the influx of girl groups who debuted with them through their sweet and innocent image. Their music has warmed the hearts of many, reminding older fans of what old-school K-Pop sounded. Apink paved their own path to success and carved their own name in K-Pop history in their own unique way, and we could not be more thankful for them.

As this sweet girl group celebrates this milestone with their beloved fans, let us take a look back at 19 April 2011; when Apink dominated the stage and became “it girls”, as they truly kicked off a career that would shine for years to come.

My My, Seven Rising Stars!

Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Naeun, Namjoo, Hayoung, and Yookyung let their talents flow when they debuted with Seven Springs of Apink. Upon its release, the girls unveiled a music video for “몰라요 (I Don’t Know)”, which featured Beast’s Gikwang. After working hard on their promotions, Apink serenaded K-Drama fans with “우리 그냥 사랑하게 해주세요 (Please Let Us Love)” for SBS’ Protect The Boss.

Later that same year, Apink tickled the cold weather pink with their second EP, Snow Pink. Their lead single, “My My”, was a catchy piece that won the hearts of many, and won them their first music show win at Mnet’s M Countdown.

Their hard work earned them rookie awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards, the Korean Culture & Entertainment Awards, the Golden Disk Awards, and the High 1 Seoul Music Awards. They might have been raking in awards and the hearts of many, but they had really only just begun.

A Blooming Secret Garden

Apink bloomed to the top a year after, with the release of their third EP, Secret Garden. Its title track, “NoNoNo”, marked the girl group’s rise to fame as it found a home on top on top of music charts and Billboard’s K-Pop Hot 100. Their title track even helped them bag their first bonsang at the Seoul Music Awards and the Golden Disk Awards!

The girls also kicked off a meaningful tradition with their fans in that same year. On their first anniversary, the girls released their first fan-dedicated song, “April 19th”. The lyrics were penned by Chorong, and the song expressed how the whole group felt when they first performed onstage, and asked fans to walk with them on their journey to the top.
