Everyone, roll out the red carpet because King Taeyeon is here!
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon is out there effortlessly proving herself as a trustworthy vocalist with the power of making listeners feel endless emotions in the new digital pre-release single “Can’t Control Myself.”
This time, Taeyeon presents herself with a surprise far from her vibrant and colorful image with “Weekend,” her last digital single, which was released in July 2021.
On January 17, SM Entertainment revealed the digital pre-release single “Can’t Control Myself” as part of Taeyeon’s upcoming 3rd full album. The track is a pop-punk genre ballad song with an intense sound that stimulates boundless emotions, which Taeyeon smoothly conveys through each note.
It is no wonder how the song falls perfectly fit with the songstress’ elegance as she participated in the lyrics writing. In particular, the lyrics for “Can’t Control Myself” contain the pain and agony of a person who keeps on returning to a dangerous love and constantly craves for the other’s heart and attention.
And the fact that Taeyeon returns with this unexpected genre is incredible, in every sense of the word. Her music spectrum is so wide that it makes fans and the general public anticipate her every release.
It’s entirely fascinating how her sweet voice manages to convey pain and torment as if she is currently experiencing it. This goes especially with the lyrics “In front of you / Everything becomes out of control / It feels like everything is going to explode / Cause I can’t control myself”
“Can’t Control Myself” Music Video
The music video for “Can’t Control Myself” contains cinematic composition and directing set on a theater stage to create a dramatic visual beauty. Combined with Taeyeon’s exemplary acting, playing a woman who was deeply hurt by love, the music video was filled with imagery and symbolism that contributes to the release’s sense of immersion.
Taeyeon starts the music video facing a mirror as she washes dirt and blood from her hands and face. Then, a short-haired Taeyeon in a red dress faces an audience that seems to start the image of a musical act.
