On Hellokpop Playlist: SHINee’s Key Takes Breaths Away In 2nd Repackaged Album “KILLER”
The undisputed king of retro K-pop has returned, and he’s ready to win over the hearts of global fans!
Nothing is stopping SHINee’s Key as he continues to present his fabulousness through the 2nd repackage album KILLER.
Globally released on February 13, 2023, at 6:00 PM KST, Key actively caught the attention of many as he transformed into a destroyer who suffered great pain and regret in love.
From concept images to video teasers, the almighty Kim Kibum not only presented a cold appearance but also featured high-quality content that further heightened the anticipation.
Specifically, the title track “Killer” showed a sensuous retro mood, setting out to solidify his unrivaled position as the K-retro king. “Killer” is an up-tempo dance genre track with impressive new wave and synth-pop-based retro sounds, combining signature synthesizers, rhythmical drumlines, and various sound effects that created a dark and mysterious character.
The lyrics contained the regrets and painful emotions of the narrator, not forgetting the other person after harshly ending their relationship.
The music video, on the other hand, showed off Key’s uniqueness in the K-pop industry. As he portrayed a man who showed a cold shoulder to his former lover as a killer, his overall fashion and visuals are an absolute sight to behold.
Particularly, the music video featured the inner suffering of the killer, capturing scenes that mimic remorse. The group dance also left a deep impression, further heightening the excitement for Key’s music show appearances.
“Heartless”
One of the new songs included in the repackaged album is “Heartless.” It is a rock-based dance track, combining an energetic electric guitar, intense timpani, and bass sound. The lyrics tell the story of the creations created by the “Mad Scientist,” which appeared in the cover image of the 2nd full album Gasoline.
“Easy”
Another new song, “Easy,” is a medium-tempo pop track featuring a dramatic development of the dreamy sound of the heavy 808 base. It also features a sub-base, drumline, and string sound during the second half of the song. The lyrics say that pretending to be fine in front of an ex-lover is not easy. Key’s vocals are a highlight, which delicately express deep emotional lines.
Meanwhile, Key’s 2nd repackage album KILLER consists of a total of 14 songs. This includes the 11 tracks from his 2nd full album Gasoline, and three new tracks, “Killer,” “Heartless,” and “Easy.”
SHINee’s Key’s 2nd repackage album KILLER was released on various music sites today, February 13 at 6:00 PM KST. The music video for the title song “Killer” can also be streamed on the YouTube channel of SMTOWN.
