Yoo Ah In On Masculinity: “To Be Most Human-like And To Be One Self”

Actor Yoo Ah In revealed his take on masculinity and feminism in his recent interview and pictorial with fashion magazine, W Korea.
According to the actor, the most attractive men and women are those who know themselves. He cited self-awareness as the key attractiveness.
“To be masculine is to be most human-like and to be oneself and to be feminine is the same,” he said. The actor added that each individual is different. Yoo Ah In also believes that those differences must be put into focus, while uniting as one.
The actor then revealed that he is a feminist, who is pro-equality and anti-discrimination among people. “I think our society is suffering to make headway in that direction [against discrimination],” he said.
Yoo Ah In also relayed his hope for people to embrace each other, and for people to use their convictions for the betterment of society. “I hope they do not use their conviction as a blade,” he said.
The actor appeared on the cover of W Korea’s 12th anniversary special alongside actress and label-mate Song Hye Kyo. The two actors exude class and grace as they don extravagant clothing, and boasted chemistry in their duo shots.
The label-mates and real-life friends will each grace the cover of the March issue of the fashion magazine. Yoo Ah In’s cover will also mark the magazine’s first “man edition”, represented by an inverted W or M.
The actor will return to the silver screen with a tvN drama with a working title ‘Chicago Typewriter’. The actor headlines the drama alongside Im Soo Jung and Go Kyung Pyo.
‘Chicago Typewriter’ is a fantasy, romantic comedy set during the Japanese occupation in South Korea in 1930s. The drama is reportedly to be aired in March.
