BLACKPINK Creates New Record As Highest Charting K-Pop Act On Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart – With “Kill This Love”

The girls of BLACKPINK truly killed it, thanks to your love, BLINKs.

BLACKPINK extends the chart-topping success of its newest single “Kill This Love” to Spotify after setting a new record on Global Top 50 Chart and taking over the Top 50 Charts across Asia.

The song, which came out on April 5, debuted on the music-streaming platform’s Global Top 50 at the number four spot, creating a new milestone for K-Pop as it became the highest global chart position achieved by a K-Pop artist on the platform.

Moreover, the girl group dethroned fellow K-Pop act BTS, who previously held the highest chart position for a K-Pop artist with “Fake Love” at number 14.

Additionally, “Kill This Love” earned an “all-kill” status on Spotify charts across Asia.

The title track of BLACKPINK’s second extended play of the same title topped the Top 50 Charts in Asian countries namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Globally, “Kill This Love” also appeared in a total of 30 Spotify Top 50 Charts.

With the recent achievement of BLACKPINK in Spotify and other global platforms, Chee Meng Tan, the Head of Artist & Label Marketing of Spotify in Asia, noted the mark that K-Pop is making in the global music market, which is more internationally connected than ever.

BLACKPINK Takes Over Spotify’s Teen Party

Aside from their chart-topping success with their new EP Kill This Love, Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé also took over Spotify’s Teen Party playlist, featuring their most favorite tracks around the world, including music from Ariana Grande and Billie Eillish.

The girls’ global takeover of the Teen Party playlist is available for streaming until morning of April 12.
