Lee Sun Kyun and “The King’s Affection” Receive International Emmy Awards Nominations

K-Drama content is proving its global presence with recent acknowledgments from International Emmy Awards!

Well-loved for its unique historical premise, The King’s Affection advances as a contender at the 50th International Emmy Awards under the telenovela category.

Notably, the series recorded the highest viewership rating of 12.1% at the time of its broadcast in December 2021. It is also the first historical drama to be ranked in the Global Top 10 on Netflix under the TV show category.

Other nominees include You Are My Hero (China), Two Lives (Spain), and Nos Tempos Do Imperador (Brazil).

Meanwhile, Lee Sun Kyun is nominated in the male actor category for the Apple TV+ original series Dr. Brain.

Dr. Brain is a sci-fi thriller that deals with the emotional journey of a neuroscientist who is obsessed with new technologies that can access consciousness and memories in the brain.

Lee competes with actors Sverrir Gudnason in A Royal Secret, Scott McNairy in Narcos and Dougray Scott in Irvine Welsh’s Crime.

Nominations for the 2022 International Emmy® Awards were announced on September 29 by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

There are 60 Nominees across 15 categories and spanning 23 countries. The 50th International Emmy Awards will be held on November 21 in New York City.
