Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung are ready to take off for their newest drama!
Scheduled for June 19 premiere, Backstreet Rookie takes the SBS slot to be vacated by The King: Eternal Monarch. The series is directed by Lee Myung Woo of last year’s hit drama, The Fiery Priest. It is also the first Korean drama to be produced by global network, Lifetime.
On June 6, SBS dropped three official posters – two of which highlight the lead love pairing, while one features the main cast.

Meanwhile, the group poster introduces the characters who will move in Backstreet Rookie. It further draws excitement with its vibrant young cast and reliable zesty character actors.
Joining the lead cast are Han Sun Hwa (Save Me 2), who plays Dae Hyun’s rich and smart girlfriend. Do Sang Woo (Queen: Love and War) portrays the convenience store’s head office director.
Recently awarded 56th Baeksang Arts Awards Best Supporting Actress, Kim Sun Young takes the role of Dae Hyun’s mother. While veteran actor Lee Byung Jun plays her husband.
Suiting up as Dae Hyun’s webtoon artist best friend Han Dal Shik is actor Um Moon Suk. He piques attention with his dreadlocks and reggae vibe. LABOUM’s Ahn Solbin portrays Jung Eun Byul, little sister to Saet Byul.
Rounding up the cast are Seo Ye Hwa and Yoon Soo as Saet Byul’s close friends.
