“Encounter” Breaks tvN’s Rating Records With Premiere Episode
Song Hye Kyo And Park Bo Gum’s team up with Encounter is already breaking records!
It’s only starting but tvN’s newest Wednesday-Thursday drama Encounter is already showing signs of a successful run as its first episode created new history for the cable network.

The highly anticipated drama starring Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum debuted strongly on November 28, scoring the highest rating in its time slot. According to AGB Nielsen Korea, the drama recorded a viewership rating of 8.7 percent.

Encounter led all evening dramas airing in both cable and public broadcasting channels on Wednesday.

SBS’ The Last Empress recorded 5.7 percent in viewership rating, while MBC’s Children of Nobody came in third with a viewership rating of 3.8 percent. Meanwhile, KBS2’s Feel Good to Die logged 2.4 percent, and MBN’s Love Alert recorded 1.7 percent in viewership rating.
With its strong premiere, Encounter now holds the title of having the highest-rated first episode among all of tvN’s Wednesday-Thursday drama. Moreover, its premiere episode placed it second among all of tvN dramas, following Mr. Sunshine’s 8.9 percent debut.

Encounter centers on the story of Cha Soo Hyun, a politician’s daughter, and Kim Jin Hyuk, a free soul who enjoys the little things in life. Their chance encounters in Cuba and South Korea will ultimately bring them together.
In the first offering of the drama, viewers witnessed Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk’s meeting in Cuba and their repeated unplanned meetings.

The Thursday episode will take viewers back to South Korea where the connection between Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk intensifies. Jin Hyuk will learn that Soo Hyun is the representative of Donghwa Hotel where he applied for and got accepted to.
