“Itaewon Class” Tops Popularity Ranking, Kim Da Mi Takes Top Spot Among Popular Actors
Itaewon Class is on the rise in both popularity as well as viewership ratings.
A refreshing plot, well-balanced cast, and incredible acting performances have garnered a lot of love from viewers for Itaewon Class. According to Good Data Corporation, the drama topped popularity rankings covering the dates from February 17 to February 23.
Ever since its premiere, Itaewon Class has been soaring in popularity rank. It has attained 30.19% share in the entire drama category which includes both public and cable TV channels. A drama’s popularity is measured using various factors, such as video views, blog and community posts, and comments. Additionally, the actors too have received a lot of attention, with Kim Da Mi attaining the top spot in the actor category. While Park Seo Joon and Kwon Na Ra were at 3rd and 8th places respectively.
Itaewon Class has also been steadily gaining higher viewership ratings. In its most recent episode aired on February 22, the drama achieved 12.6% viewership ratings nationwide and 14.0% in the Seoul metropolitan area based on Nielson reports. It is the second highest rated JTBC drama after SKY Castle.
The reason for Itaewon Class capturing both viewership ratings and popularity ranks is its unique yet engaging plot. There is a diverse group of characters and personal stories that encourages optimistic outlook towards life. Currently, the confrontation between Park Sae Ro Yi (Park Seo Joon) and Jang Dae Hee (Yoo Jae Myung) is continuously heating up as they strategically compete in their respective business. Also, the drama boasts of strong, smart, and independent female characters, who are pursuing their own goals.
Itaewon Class airs every Friday and Saturday at 10:50 pm KST via JTBC. The drama is also available on Netflix.
