Kang Hoon, Kim Hye Jun, and Cha Woo Min Confirmed for New tvN Office Romance Drama
The upcoming tvN drama My Favorite Employee (WT) has finalized its main cast, pairing actors Kang Hoon, Kim Hye Jun, and Cha Woo Min in a new office growth romance that is already generating buzz.
Produced by Studio Dragon, Studio N, and NPIO, the series adapts a popular webtoon and explores the emotional journey of a new employee who gradually becomes the most important person in the workplace.
Based on the webtoon My Oppa is an Idol, which amassed hundreds of millions of global views and earned high ratings across multiple languages, the drama blends romance and workplace storytelling. The narrative follows Nam Da-reum, a passionate newcomer who joins a startup with the sole goal of meeting her favorite idol, only to find herself navigating the challenges of professional life and unexpected relationships.
Kang Hoon takes on the role of Kang Ha-gi, the CEO of a fashion startup known for his cool and meticulous leadership. Although he maintains a composed and professional demeanor, his perspective begins to shift after encountering the energetic new employee. The character promises to showcase a different side of Kang Hoon’s acting, highlighting a balance between corporate authority and emotional growth.
Kim Hye Jun portrays Nam Da-reum, a devoted fan who leaves a major company opportunity behind to work at the startup in hopes of meeting her idol. Her character’s journey from enthusiastic newcomer to a young professional facing real-world challenges marks the actor’s first foray into romantic comedy. The role is expected to emphasize both comedic and heartfelt moments as she learns what it means to grow in the workplace.
Cha Woo Min plays Lee Chan, the idol-turned-director of the startup and Nam Da-reum’s long-time favorite. While presenting a polished public image, the character carries an underlying sense of emotional depth and loneliness. His encounter with a fan in an unexpected professional setting sets the stage for intriguing dynamics between admiration, personal growth, and workplace relationships.
The drama centers on the evolving relationships among the three leads—Kang Ha-gi, Nam Da-reum, and Lee Chan—as they blend office life with romantic and emotional development. Viewers can expect a mix of humor, empathy, and heartfelt storytelling as the characters navigate professional challenges and interpersonal bonds.
Set to air in the second half of the year, My Favorite Employee aims to capture the appeal of modern workplace romance while exploring themes of growth and self-discovery.
Highlighting a youthful and talented cast, industry observers anticipate strong interest from both drama fans and viewers drawn to romantic comedies with a contemporary twist.
