Hwang Jung Eum & Yook Sung Jae Give Interesting Peeks To Their Latest Drama “Mystic Pop-up Bar”
Mystic Pop-up Bar revealed its fun and mysterious first video teaser – and it definitely hooks attention!
jTBC’s new drama Mystic Pop-up Bar has released its first teaser video. It has been unveiling more about the story and the characters as the premiere date slowly approaches. The series will hit off on May 20th and will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The drama is classified as a mystery counseling series and is based on a webtoon of the same name.
A mysterious food cart named Ssang Gab Pocha opens up only at night and offers its customers a place to drink, eat and to take a break from their problems. Everyone who visits the bar is equal and treated that way, even the owner.
The main cast consists of Hwang Jung Eum, who plays the owner Wol Joo, Yook Sung Jae, who will be playing Han Kang Bae, a part-timer, and Choi Won Young as Team Leader Gwi, the manager of the late night bar.
First Official Teaser Video
The video starts with a mysterious melody and vibe. The heavy footsteps of the part-timer lead him to the mystic bar. Inside, the peculiar owner is waiting.
The teaser then turns more to the comedy side, with the lively music and the funny looking scenes. It emphasizes on the equality of the visitors of the bar and the owner. It further states how no one has the upper hand there.
It easily makes one curious of what the show has to offer. At the end, the viewer is even invited by Wol Joo herself for a drink. It feels like she is breaking the fourth wall to ask “will you take the offer and have a look at the drama when it releases.”
Fun Eye-catching Posters
Previously, a few posters were released for the show. One of them is of the red food cart and a sign at the front saying “05.20 Open.” Just like teasing a new store or restaurant, the picture is revealing the series’ release date.
Another official poster showed Hwang Jung Eum siting on top of piled up chairs. The first stack represents the customers and the other one, the owner.
In addition, character posters were also released.
Owner Wol Joo is preparing a mouth watering dish with a pan in one hand and a spatula in the other. The sign reads “Sweet potatoes and cider! Spicy chicken feet are a special stress medicine! The problem solving Wol Joo.” When someone needs help, this is the person they should look for.
Next up is part-timer Han Kang Bae. In his poster, he is wearing an apron and carries crates filled with drinks. Just like how drinking makes a person more honest and has the urge to confess things, Kang Bae is the one who can find someone’s inner thoughts easily. He has the ability to make others speak their mind when he touches them.
Then, manager Gwi’s dynamic posture and fish cake skewers poster brings a soft laughter when looked at. When crisis occurs in the pop-up bar, manager Gwi is the person to solve it, as compared to how the solution to drought is a rain shower.
The last poster is of two chairs and a table build from the drink crates and a wooden surface. On top of it are the stress relieving dish and alcohol bottle. The poster invites customers with how well it conveys the motto of the food cart. According to it, Ssang Gab Pocha is the place where one can escape life when it gets too hard and stressful.
Behind each character and the table are hidden the letters which form the show’s name in Korean.
In addition, jTBC had been releasing behind the scenes teasers as well. The actors were captured during filming to give more reasons for the public to expect the drama.
The images also included other important actors as well. They are Lee Joon Hyuk who plays a grim reaper and Jung Da Eun who turns into a security agent at a store.
Mystic Pop-up Bar has already finished filming and is in the final stage of preparations. The first episode is set to air on May 20th at 9.30 PM KST. It will also be available for streaming on Netflix.
