“The Penthouse: War In Life 2” Releases New Poster & Trailer Teasing For A Darker & More Vengeful Narrative
Brace yourself for a more sinister, vengeful and gripping season 2 of The Penthouse: War In Life this February!
The premiere season of SBS’ hit series The Penthouse: War In Life had enjoyed an astounding reception with its gripping dark narrative. The drama was just so impressive that it had viewers raving for a sequel to follow through on the engrossing story. Thank goodness as its fans don’t have to wait for too long as the second season is about to premiere on February 19 – with 12 suspense-filled episodes!
SBS recently unveiled a 30-second trailer teasing for a more vengeful storyline. The trailer clip opens with lead antagonist Cheon Seo Jin (Kim So Yeon) hints at uncovering the real killer of Shim Su Ryeon (Lee Ji Ah).
Expectations are mounting as the network guarantees a more thrilling and engaging series. “Season 2 will unfold a fascinating story that will top the first season. We ask the viewers for much support and anticipation.”
Aside from the short trailer video, SBS also recently unveiled the drama’s poster for its second season. The new poster detours from over-the-top design usually used to connote high-end, elitist lifestyle. It rather goes for a simple pitch-black backdrop suggesting a more sinister and fiery events to unfold.
The poster also includes an English subtitle, “War In Life”. The coins at the bottom signifies the intensifying conflicts between the social divides, the theme that dominated the drama’s first season.
Dark, Vengeful & Grotesque
Set in Hera Palace, a luxurious apartment block that houses high society people, the story mainly revolves around the lives of three women who reside in that elite abode. The narrative circles around envy and revenge in which the characters have to go head to head against one another in order to get even.
The first season, which aired last October, ended on a cliffhanger with the death of Su Ryeon. She was seeking revenge against other residents for the killing of her daughter.
The series have also stirred some controversies with its overtly sensitive plot and some graphic scenes. Scenes like Joo Dan Tae (Uhm Ki Joon) locking up and abusing his children in a small room for their poor school grades, and Seo Jin attacking Oh Yoon Hee (Eugene) to slit her throat with a trophy are quite disturbing.
Nevertheless, the drama’s viewership rating has skyrocketed as the series progressed. It started at 9.2% in its premiere episode and ended on an impressive high note achieving 28.8% veiwership rating.
Top-notch writer, Kim Soon Ok, will again put her hands on the flow of the story. She is the creative mind behind the iconic dramas Temptation Of Wife and The Last Empress. PD Joo Dong Min also returns as the series director. The audiences can, therefore, expect that the second season will be able to match, if not surpass, the thrill from the previous season.
The Penthouse: War in Life 2 will air Fridays and Saturdays.
