Seo Ji Hye, Lee Sung Jae, Hong Soo Hyun, And Lee Sang Woo To Lead TV Chosun’s New Drama
K-Drama fans, you are in for another interesting program this year! TV Chosun just confirmed the final cast for its new project, Red Balloon, which will air in the last quarter of 2022!
Seo Ji Hye, Lee Sung Jae, Hong Soo Hyun, and Lee Sang Woo have recently accepted the lead roles in the upcoming series Red Balloon (literal title).
Produced by TV Chosun, the drama tells the thrilling yet passionate story of the relative deprivation we all suffer from, the thirst for painful desires, and our struggles to quench that thirst. Talented duo director Jin Hyung Wook and Moon Young Nam, who previously worked on Liver or Die together, will lead and take charge of Red Balloon‘s overall production.
MEET THE MAIN LEADS WHO WILL CAPTURE YOUR ATTENTION
Seo Ji Hye, who stole viewers’ attention for his incredible portrayal in the horror film Voice and dramas Don’t Dare to Dream, Dinner Mate and Crash Landing On You, will be playing Jo Eun Gang, a tutor who wants to be a teacher but always fails to get her teacher certification examination. She seems simple and calm on the outside, but has a flaming passion in her heart. She will do what it takes in order to achieve her goal in life.
Lee Sung Jae will transform into Jin Nam Cheol, the brother-in-law of Go Cha Won (Lee Sang Woo). He is the eldest son of a poor family who is controlled by his in-laws. He took over his father-in-law’s scrap-waste business but has no actual authority. Overall, he is a dispirited man who always apologizes to people.
Meanwhile, Hong Soo Hyun will take on the role of Han Ba Da, a jewelry designer with a glamorous appearance and a cheerful personality. She is considerate and never bears any grudges toward anyone she encounters.
Although she grew up in a wealthy family, she tried to give up on marriage after her mother collapsed just before the wedding. However, she ended up getting married with the persuasion of her husband Go Cha Won, but is having a fairly difficult married life.
Finally, Lee Sang Woo will portray Han Ba Da’s husband and dermatologist Go Cha Won. He became a doctor as expected of his family, but he is always planning different businesses because he doesn’t like his job. He has good looks, a kind heart, and great humor, but he’s always in a dilemma because he’s at the center of conflict between his mother and wife.
The production team shared, “As Seo Ji Hye, Lee Sung Jae, Hong Soo Hyun, and Lee Sang Woo, who give faith with just their names, have joined ‘Red Balloon,’ they made an even more fantastic combination with writer Moon Young Nam and director Jin Hyung Wook. Please look forward to ‘Red Balloon,’ which will bring you more laughter and emotions with various characters and immersive developments.”
Red Balloon is set to air on the small screens in December.
