“The Season of Kkokdu” Starring Im Soo Hyang And Kim Jung Hyun Announces Premiere Date, Completes Cast Lineup

Upcoming MBC fantasy drama sets its first broadcast date.

The Season of Kkokdu (literal title), the network’s newest Friday-Saturday drama offering, is premiering on January 27, 2023. Headlining the series are actors Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang.

The Season of Kkokdu

The series tells the story of Kkok Du, a grim reaper who comes down to the mortal world every 99 years to punish humans and Han Gye Jeol, a doctor with mysterious abilities. Kim Jung Hyun plays the role of Kkok Du, the angel of death who meets Im Soo Hyang’s character, Han Gye Jeol, a skilled physician working as a visiting doctor.

Apart from confirming its air date, the drama also reveals its supporting cast. Kim Da Som, Ahn Woo Yeon, Kim In Kwon and Cha Chung Hwa are all starring in the series. Playing as the talented Tae Jung Won is Kim Da Som. Meanwhile, Ahn Woo Yeon portrays Han Chul, a detective who can’t stand injustice and Han Gye Jeol’s younger brother. Adding more color to the lineup are veteran actors Kim In Kwon and Cha Chung Hwa. Kim will suit up as the heedless god Ok Shin and assistant to Kkok Du while Cha portrays the perceptive god Gak Shin.

Teaming up once again are Less Than Evil writers Kang Yi Heon and Heo Joon Woo. Also sharing director duties are Baek Soo Chan (Alice, Beautiful Gong Shim and A Girl Who Sees Smells) and Kim Ji Hoon of Check Out the Event.

The production team of The Season of Kkokdu said, “As all members inside and outside of the set are continuing the filming with one mind, you can expect a fantastic chemistry. Please pay a lot of attention to the upcoming first broadcast.”

The Season of Kkokdu takes over the Friday-Saturday slot for MBC and will premiere on January 27, 2023.
