Locks Of Love: Why N Seoul Tower Is Romantic
Form and symmetry – the hallmarks of beauty hold the ability to transform any lifeless, physical form. In South Korea, there is such a landmark that epitomizes notions of romance – the N Seoul Tower.
Apart from the legendary Haechi, N Seoul Tower (also known as Namsan Tower and Seoul Tower) is the next most commonly known iconic symbol of Seoul. At the highest point in the capital city of South Korea, the tower is visible from far distances in most parts of the city, especially when it lights up at night with its faint and familiar glow. The entire elevation stands at 479.7 m, with Namsan at 243 m (up to the construction point of the N Seoul Tower) and the tower making up the remaining height at 236.7m.
Apart from the aesthetic appearance, N Seoul Tower is also one of the most important strategic structures in the city; serving as the radio/television broadcast and communications tower.
There are certainly many romantic places in Seoul, but what sets N Seoul Tower aside?
Love lock, love lock and more love locks. Countless number of love locks can be found hanging around the roof terrace, with new locks adding daily. It is an overwhelming sight, and tempting enough for anyone in love to love-lock. This is a distinct feature of N Seoul Tower, and one thing that every couple never fails to do, as a symbolic testament of each other’s love.
Talented buskers are always found around Namsan, performing melodic and soothing tunes with various types of instruments that are pleasing to every lover’s ears. During Korea Joa 2015, this is what was heard:
At the highest point, couples can enjoy the best panoramic sight of the city together. We thought the most magical moments actually happen during the dusk; when the sun is about to set down.
Who would have thought that the Koreans could innovate a communications tower to be highly entertaining as well – presenting the Alive Museum in N Seoul Tower. Get ready your camera or phone to capture some memorable photos together with your loved one here.
Korean drama filming location
This has to be one of the main reasons why N Seoul Tower is highly rated as the number one attraction by foreigners according to a survey conducted by Seoul city in 2012. If you are a K-drama fan, can you recall any of these romantic moments:
When Goo Jun Pyo and Geum Jan Di had their first date in Boys Over Flowers? When Tae Yong and Park Ha met together in Rooftop Prince? You Who Came From The Star featuring Do Min-jun and Cheon Song-yi?
What other reasons do you think that Namsan Tower represents romance in Seoul?
