Where Cultures Connect — “Everyone’s KPOP: Battle of the Champions” Celebrates PH–Korea Friendship

Filipino talent took center stage in a dazzling fusion of culture and pop at “Everyone’s KPOP: Battle of the Champions,” a high-energy showcase of dance, passion, and global K-pop influence presented by the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines at the iconic Metropolitan Theater.

Set against the backdrop of one of Manila’s most storied venues, the event marked a meaningful celebration of the 77th anniversary of Philippine–Korean relations. Featuring electrifying performances from ALPHA, MERAKI, PARADIGM, and WILDKARD, the competition highlighted the remarkable growth and artistry of the country’s K-pop cover dance scene.

Rising above an intense display of precision, creativity, and stage mastery, PARADIGM clinched the Grand Champion title. More than just a competition, the event united fans, performers, and cultural advocates—reinforcing K-pop’s role as a dynamic bridge that connects communities and sparks shared creativity across borders.

Adding to the excitement, Venisse Siy—known as the Tagalog-singing voice of Mira from the Grammy-winning K-pop Demon Hunters—delivered a standout performance of “Golden,” captivating the audience and elevating the night’s already electric atmosphere.

A Stellar Panel of Judges

The competition was guided by an impressive roster of judges whose expertise spans global stages and the K-pop industry:

Lia Kim, legendary choreographer and co-founder of 1MILLION Dance Studio, renowned for shaping the global K-pop dance movement.

Gwyn Dorado, a Filipino artist who gained international acclaim on Korea’s Sing Again 4, brought both emotional depth and cross-cultural insight—along with a moving performance of Yoon Jong Shin’s “Rebirth.”

Ciel Oh, a respected K-pop instructor and head of the Korean Cultural Center’s K-pop Academy in the Philippines, known for mentoring rising talents.

A Meaningful Message from Korea’s First Lady

Elevating the occasion further was the presence of Her Excellency First Lady Kim Hea Kyung, who commended the passion of Filipino youth and the unifying power of music and dance:

“Through K-pop, one of the most representative forms of Korean culture, people around the world are becoming friends and learning to understand one another. I hope today’s event serves as a meaningful opportunity for us to appreciate each other’s cultures and build friendships.”
