2PM and 2NE1 score big at MTV Video Music Awards Japan
The annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012 resulted in great success for 2PM and 2NE1. The awards ceremony was held on June 23 in Chiba, Japan, at Makuhari Messe. Japanese girl group, Perfume, hosted the event, and several Japanese and international entertainers including, EXILE, JUJU, BUMP OF CHICKEN, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Linkin Park and more, performed.
2PM was nominated and announced as the winner under the Best Group Video category for their Japanese track, I’m Your Man. Other notable nominees included Maroon 5 with Moves Like Jagger, Coldplay with Paradise, Monkey Majik with Hero, and Ikimonogakari with Itsudatte Bokura wa.
2PM performed a total of two songs, Beautiful and I’m Your Man, and displayed their various language skills by speaking in Korean, Japanese, and English. The band said,”We want to give this honor to those who love 2PM and I‘m Your Man. We thank you so much. We′ll become a group that works harder.”
2NE1 also stuck gold at the MTV VMAJ by winning the Best New Artist Award with I Am The Best. Competing nominees included CNBLUE with In My Head, James Blake with Limit to Your Love, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu with Tsukema Tsukeru, and LMFAO with Party Rock Anthem.
2NE1 performed I Am The Best and Scream at the ceremony. Upon accepting the award, 2NE1 said,“thank you to the staff and Black Jack. Let’s play, 2NE1!”
