“Dear My Dear” Countdown Timeline

After Cube Entertainment confirmed on May 7 that the BTOB leader plans to pre-release a single as he prepares for a solo album coming up soon, a track poster featuring a sunny and bright aesthetic was released on May 13 to officially set the atmosphere for Eunkwang’s single.

Teased earlier on May 14 with a poster that showed the same color palette, he then dropped three photos with a bubbly pastel theme on May 15.

On May 16, Eunkwang shared a preview of the single’s audio through a video of him singing at his agency’s practice room. In the clip, he serenaded fans with the line “The days I longed for that I’ve been keeping preciously inside me”.

Making fans smile a lot (like he usually does), the BTOB leader made his fun and quirky personality shine through a unique “dishwashing spoiler video” revealed on May 18. In the video, he literally sang a snippet of the song while washing dishes. “[This is] A magical song that you can sing even while you’re washing dishes,” he wrote.

The next day, he finally gifted fans with a studio snippet of “Dear My Dear” followed by an official audio teaser on May 20 as his last sneak peek to the song before its release.

“Dear My Dear” First Impression And Afterthoughts

Putting an emphasis on Eunkwang’s melodious voice, “Dear My Dear” was released with a lyric video which also bore the BTOB leader’s sweet message to his fans.

Coming off as a heartwarming ballad, the song and its lyrics showed the singer’s sincere love and gratitude that he wanted to present to fans who waited for his return from the military. “And the word that I want to tell you is, “thank you for waiting”,” he sweetly sang which tugged on our heartstrings.

Adding to its allure, MeloMance’s keyboardist Jung Dong Hwan participated in writing, composing and arranging the song. The combination of the calm piano sound played by Jung Dong Hwan himself and Eunkwang’s warm and angelic voice definitely gave an infinitely great impression to listeners.

Meanwhile, “Dear My Dear” marks Eunkwang’s long-awaited solo release since “One Day”, which was released in 2017 as part of the Piece of BTOB project which also featured other solo songs from the group’s members. Additionally, it is expected to open the doors and hype up excitement for his upcoming solo album in June.
