BTS Bags Musician Of The Year Award At 2018 Korean Music Awards

Awards and recognitions keep piling up for BTS’ illustrious 2017!

BTS bested fellow amazing artists, IU, Hyukoh, and Kim Mok In to emerge as the victorious artist at 15th Korean Music Awards.

Korean Music Awards (KMA) is an independent music award giving body that highlights predominant and various music genres by South Korean artists. It aims for a balanced development of Korean popular music whether it may be mainstream or not.

The organizers said, “These charts and achievements are secondary. A group born in Korean popular music captivated contemporary youth around the world with their music and world view.”

BTS was handpicked to receive the highly coveted honor by KMA’s selection committee, which is comprised of 56 judges represented by critics, reporters, music journalists, and radio/TV music program producers.

The septet marked a monumental worldwide popularity last year after the release of their massive hit album, Love Yourself: Her, which has already achieved over 1.58 million sale copies.

Two tracks from their best-selling album – “Mic Drop” and “DNA” peaked at Billboard Hot 100 chart, and were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

On Jan 2018, the Recording Industry of Japan certified the group’s three singles, “Mic Drop”, “DNA”, and “Crystal Snow” for double platinum after selling over 500,000 sales.

BTS hauled hefty amount of awards in the recently concluded South Korean music shows. They won the 2017 MNet Asian Music Awards again after bagging it last year, making them the first K-pop group to win back-to-back honors. They also received Grand Prize awards at 2018 Golden Disc Awards and 2018 Seoul Music Awards.

Bangtan Boys, the reigning Billboard’s 2017 Top Social Media artist, have also graced a few American talk shows because of their immense popularity.  The idol-phenoms are the first K-pop act to perform on American Music Awards last year.
