The Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, has proudly announced that BTS has been granted three more certifications as of November 9.

The group earned their first gold-certified album with latest album Love Yourself: Answer, which was released on August 24.

With this, BTS has become the first and only Korean act to receive a gold certification from RIAA for an album as well.

Additionally, the album’s lead track “Idol” has gotten its gold certification as a single as well, lining up next to “DNA” and “Fake Love”, which became certified gold in February and August respectively.

Going from gold, the septet’s single “MIC Drop”, which was also recreated as a remix version with Steve Aoki, went up a level, and became platinum-certified. It is upgraded just nine months after it got its gold certification on February 6 this year, and giving BTS the honor of being the first Korean group to achieve a gold certification from RIAA

This new achievement for “MIC Drop” marks the group’s first RIAA-certified platinum single – yet another historic feat for the same song.

RIAA awards certifications based on its sales as per the number of recording units, with over 500,000 total as the threshold for gold, over one million for platinum, and over ten million for diamond. Based on RIAA’s standards, one song “unit” is equal to either one digital song sale or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams.
