BTS Is The 2018 TIME 100 Reader Poll Winner
BTS’ ARMYs did it again as they add another accolade to the group’s growing list of achievement!
South Korean boy group BTS has one powerful fandom to back its continuous world domination. ARMYs once again proved their influence as a fandom as they award the boy group the honor to be the 2018 TIME 100 Reader Poll winner.
American weekly news magazine TIME announced that BTS has added the accolade in its list of success on April 17. The poll, which began on March 28 and ended on April 17, recorded over 15 percent votes for the boy group.
RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook won over South Korean president Moon Jae In, former US president Barack Obama, musical acts Rihanna, Beyonce, Shawn Mendes, and Bruno Mars.
BTS succeeded Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte who was last year’s winner of the reader poll with five percent of online votes.
The win may not have come as a surprise as BTS has been proving its global popularity by raking international recognition left-and-right.
In 2017, BTS took the first Billboard Music Award win for a K-Pop artist and ended Justin Bieber’s reign as Top Social Artist. The same year saw the boy group as one of TIME’s Most Influential People on the Internet and Teen Choice Awards’ Choice International Artist
In 2018, BTS was listed on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia in the entertainment and sports category and won the Favorite Global Music Star award in the 31st Nickelodeon USA Kids’ Choice Awards. The boy group and its fan club, Army, also took the recognitions as Best Boy Band and Best Fan Army, respectively, at the 5th iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Meanwhile, BTS is set to release its third Korean studio album Love Yourself: Tear on May 18.
Congratulations to BTS and ARMYs!
