CHA EUN WOO Unveils 2nd Mini Album “ELSE”, Marking a Bold Evolution in His Musical Journey
Global artist, actor, and ASTRO member CHA EUN WOO has officially returned with his long-awaited second mini album, ELSE—his first musical project in nearly two years.
Released through Fantagio and Kakao Entertainment, ELSE reveals a deeper, more expressive side of the star, showcasing how much he has evolved both as a vocalist and a performer.
The title ELSE—meaning “other” or “different”—captures the essence of this new chapter. While his solo debut album ENTITY was an introspective exploration of his core identity, ELSE represents the moment he steps out of the familiar molds that shaped him. Here, CHA EUN-WOO breaks free from expectation, embracing instinct, emotion, and artistic boldness to present a version of himself fans have never encountered.
Built on a dual emotional framework, the mini album balances raw, impulsive energy with refined, delicate sensitivity. This push-and-pull creates a magnetic tension, drawing listeners deeper into his expanded musical universe. Through genre-blending production, intimate vocal nuance, and cohesive storytelling, ELSE highlights the range and sophistication of CHA EUN-WOO’s artistry.
The project opens with “Sweet Papaya,” a vibrant pop-funk track full of breezy guitar riffs and an easygoing groove. Its tropical imagery and playful delivery capture the effortless youthful charm he’s known for. At the center of the album stands the addictive focus track “SATURDAY PREACHER.” Infused with retro disco influences, shimmering synths, and a pulsing bassline, the song showcases his soaring falsetto and the electrifying aura of a Saturday night—depicting a presence powerful enough to stir hidden excitement in anyone.
The mood shifts with “Selfish,” which blends cinematic pop, trap elements, and soft rock tones to express the tender vulnerability of wanting to be just a little selfish in love. The album concludes with “Thinkin’ Bout U,” a warm, yearning pop ballad steeped in quiet longing. Throughout all four tracks, CHA EUN-WOO’s unmistakable tone and versatility tie the journey together, crafting a narrative that feels both emotionally honest and musically diverse.
Fans can look forward to the “Sweet Papaya” music video, set to premiere on Nov 28 at 3:30 PM KST (Nov 27 at 10:30 PM PST). As of now, CHA EUN WOO continues his mandatory military service, with his discharge scheduled for January 2027.
Since debuting with ASTRO in 2016, CHA EUN WOO has risen as one of Asia’s most influential multi-hyphenate entertainers—active across music, acting, and global brand ambassadorships. His expressive vocal color and onscreen charisma have earned him lead roles in hit productions like “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty,” “True Beauty,” “Island,” “A Good Day to Be a Dog,” and “Wonderful World.” His impressive resume has also brought him numerous honors, including the Rising Star Award, Excellence Acting Award, AAA Emotive Award, MTV VMAJ Global Icon Award, and Korea’s prestigious Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award.
With a combined social reach of over 60.9 million followers, CHA EUN WOO continues to strengthen his position as one of Korea’s most influential cultural icons. ELSE marks not just a return, but the start of an exciting new phase in his evolving artistic journey.
