EXO’s D.O. Takes Over Domestic And International Music Charts With First Solo Album “Empathy”
Proving his amazing artistry and great musical prowess, EXO’s D.O. bagged several feats on the charts with his first solo album Empathy!
D.O. of phenomenal boy group EXO demonstrated what it is like to be a sought-after musician by landing several achievements in conjunction with the release of his first solo album Empathy.
Just recently, the idol made his solo debut as a musician with Empathy, and yet he already caught the attention of everyone, even casual K-Pop listeners. Spearheaded by the title track “Rose,” the album highlights not only D.O.’s soothing vocal tone but also his ability to write lyrics that hit home and could instantly melt EXO-Ls’ hearts.
Unveiled on July 26, the dazzling artist’s newest album quickly scored the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Album Charts in at least 59 countries worldwide. This includes the Philippines, New Zealand, Laos, the United States, Australia, Fiji, Nigeria, Qatar, Thailand, Spain, Vietnam, Brunei, Denmark, and Hong Kong, among many others.
As if these were not yet enough, D.O. also reigned over daily and real-time charts in South Korea with his newest album. It specifically topped Hanteo Chart, Synnara Record, and Hottracks, proving his immense popularity.
Further demonstrating the idol’s great influence, Empathy also topped the Digital Album Sales Charts of China’s largest music platform QQ Music. In addition, it dominated Kogou Music as well as Kuwo Music — the other two big music streaming sites in China.
As proof of everyone’s excitement over the iconic release, hashtags and keywords related to D.O.’s solo debut dominated Twitter’s Trending lists worldwide. Among them are “The 1st Mini Album” and “EXO D.O.”
A SWEET AND COMFORTING ALBUM
D.O., who is known for his unmatched talents in singing, dancing, and acting, caught the hearts of many K-Pop fans with his lovely, iconic, and calming album Empathy. It presents a total of 8 tracks falling under different genres ranging from acoustic and R&B, which all display his distinct music style.
Through the title track “Rose,” D.O. was able to convey the essence of love in the sweetest and most beautiful way possible. Its introduction beat alone is also enough to brighten all of your bad days.
With that being said, it is no wonder why the album becomes a no-skip one and the title track immediately entered the daily playlists of everyone.
As of current writing, the music video for “Rose” has already amassed 3.6 million views on YouTube.
Meanwhile, D.O. will appear in the South Korean remake of the hit Taiwanese film Secret as the male lead. He will also star alongside veteran actor Sol Kyung Gu in the science fiction-themed film The Moon.
