Following the success of I-LAND, HYBE and CJ ENM will launch I-LAND 2 in search of K-Pop’s newest female talent. The popular audition survival series formed ENHYPEN, one of the current leading fourth generation groups. After their group formation during the series, the members debuted in November 2020, meeting vast global support.

Now, HYBE and CJ ENM tease their newest venture by releasing a teaser video online. Titled, [I-LAND 2] FIND YOUR I, the video highlights ENHYPEN’s impressive quick rise to fame and their status as rookies who have gone global.

The clip then reveals the companies’ plans to form a girl group, encouraging viewers to participate in a global audition. The video delivers the encouraging message that “You have unlimited potential, and now you can be the star.”

Any female, regardless of nationality, who is born on or after January 1, 2000 and those before December 31, 2009, are invited to apply. Applications will participate in a real-time video call audition. They may apply through one category of either vocals, rap, or dance. The first round of applications will run from September 27 at 12 PM KST to October 10 at 12 AM KST.

Those wishing to apply may do so through the company’s website, which requires all relevant documentation and a self-introduction video. After the documentation screening, auditions will occur sequentially in various regions. In October, auditions will begin with Korea. Subsequently, they will be held in Japan, Vietnam, Australia, Thailand, and the United States.

I-LAND 2 will air during the first half of 2022.

The Magic of I-LAND

I-LAND first aired on Mnet during June to September 2020. The reality show was also a survival competition amongst ambitious K-Pop trainees, dreaming to take part in the formation of a new boy group. The series was led by CJ ENM’s IP planning and production, in collaboration with HYBE’S artist production.

HYBE’s label includes worldwide K-Pop legends such as BTS, SEVENTEEN and TXT, raising anticipation for the boy group it would produce through the series. During its airing, I-LAND scored more than 44 million cumulative viewers through online streaming platforms such as YouTube. Digital clips from the series earned 186 million views, while viewers from 181 countries globally partook in the series’ survival voting.

After the conception of ENHYPEN, the group debuted with BORDER: DAY ONE. The rookies achieved an impressive debut, selling 318,528 albums on the day of release, which was the highest amount of single albums sold for a group who debuted in 2020.

Meanwhile, the members’ subsequent project, BORDER: CARNIVAL, ranked number 18 on the Billboard 200 and topped Japan’s Oricon Weekly Album Chart for two straight weeks. With such consistent achievement, ENHYPEN’s unprecedented quick rise to fame demanded attention. The group continues to reach milestones in the global music market, surpassing one million cumulative album sales with only two projects under their belt so far.

As such, many are anticipating the next season of I-LAND. Fans are eager to witness the series’ first girl group project as well as the talent that will make up the group. Members will join BELIFT LAB as ENHYPEN’s first labelmate.

Auditions for I-LAND 2 begin on September 27 at 12 PM KST.
