Jeon Somi Gears Up For Her Solo Debut With Colorful Teaser Photo For “Birthday”

A party is about to take place this June for fans of Jeon Somi!

Since I.O.I disbanded in 2017, fans and casual viewers alike pondered on what’s next for the members as they returned to their respective agencies. All eyes were on the girls especially on Jeon Somi, the first placer of the first season of Produce 101 and the center of I.O.I.

It may have taken awhile, but the 18-year-old singer is now ready to take center stage once more with her solo debut under her new home The Black Label, which just released a vibrant and colorful teaser photo and more details about its solo artist’s debut single.

Set for release on June 13, her upcoming song “Birthday” will highlight her skills as a singer and a composer as she teams up with renowned producers Teddy, 24, and Bekuh Boom for the track.

Jeon Somi signed with The Black Label in September 2018 after terminating her contract with JYP Entertainment, which she represented in the first season of Produce 101.

The Black Label confirmed her solo debut in February 2019. In May of this year, the YG Entertainment’s sub-label revealed her solo debut date.

Prior to joining Produce 101, the singer appeared in GOT7’s “Stop Stop It” music video. She also participated in the reality survival program called Sixteen that produced JYP Entertainment’s girl group TWICE.

Jeon Somi received wider recognition after taking the top spot in Produce 101 and debuting as the center of I.O.I. The girl group released two extended plays namely Chrysalis and Miss Me?, two single albums, and six singles, including “Whatta Man” and “Very Very Very”.

Jeon Somi also appeared in television programs such as Sister’s Slam Dunk Season 2 and Idol Drama Operation Team. She also hosted The Show, the 26th Seoul Music Awards, and Music Bank World Tour in Berlin.
