Starting with the unexpected release of their debut single, “Attention,” on July 22, 2022, NewJeans completely overtook the K-Pop industry.

The girl group released “Hype Boy” the next day, and it went on to become the K-Pop female act’s single with the longest chart run on the Billboard Global 200.

Furthermore, “Hype Boy” was ranked by NME as the best K-Pop song of 2022.

The same year, NewJeans’ self-titled debut extended play with the lead track “Cookie” was released. The EP received the Best K-Pop Album award at the Korean Music Awards. It also won the girl group nominations for Melon Music Awards and Circle Chart Music Awards.

Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein returned in 2023 with their debut single album, OMG, which featured the songs “Ditto” as a pre-release track and “OMG” as the album’s lead single.

The album got praise for its retro-style concept. It was also their first album to sell over a million copies, debuting at number one on the Circle Album Chart.

In addition to a fan meeting, a new album by NewJeans is expected to be released in July. The girl group will also play in August at the Summer Sonic Festival and Lollapalooza.
