MOAs, brace yourselves as TXT unleashes their wild side in “Puma”!
TXT showed off a new side to them in the latest music video for their track “Puma”.
Unveiled on June 4, the official music video for “동물원을 빠져나온 퓨마(literal translation: Puma Fleeing The Zoo) is sure to leave one speechless especially with its stunning conception and bewitching visuals.
Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Soobin, Taehyun, and Huening Kai looked spellbinding while dressed in bold blacks and animal prints. The edgy styles enhanced with dark makeup and black painted nails added to the feisty concept of the video as well.
Moreover, the setting of the video had set a very fierce tone to the overall music video which brought a breathtaking viewing experience.
The Release Of The Beast
Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Soobin, Taehyun, and Huening Kai looked ethereal and portrayed a hard-to-miss feral energy with their demeanour.
Beginning the heart-thumping clip, Huening Kai looked hypnotizing as he broke free from a glass barrier. This gave rise to the other members following suit and breaking out of the zoo, including Taehyun who broke his shackles and freed himself to make a bold statement in the music video.
The group flawlessly channeled the persona of a puma with their facial expressions, hand gestures, and movements such as crawling and crouching in an animalistic manner.
Additionally, the lyrics are power-packed and expressed TXT’s aim to run relentlessly towards their dream. “Puma” used the zoo and jungle as metaphors to assert an awareness of both, a sense of freedom as well a sense of danger – that even a creature as feared like a puma has to be on its guard.
The video is all in all is quite the masterpiece. There are several moments however, that make impactful statements and stand apart on their own.
Particularly, Yeonjun’s rap verse wherein he voices, “I told ya/Still too young to stand alone/This world is a jungle full of warriors/Cho Joon Kyung aims at your neck/Thousands of eyes access the Internet.”
This notion manifests itself in a subtle way when Beomgyu and Soobin are tied up to leashes like exotic pets. This is likely in reference to the idea that although they may have escaped the zoo, they will still be held captive by the media/internet.
Yeonjun further said, “Be careful, your enemy spreads in no time/How long does it take to reach my dream/In that question, only gunshots spread every time/I run up again to keep breathing.”
The rap verse made for a daring impression as it captured the essence of the track sublimely.
Ultimately, they decided to rise above the fear of being hunted down and taken captive. TXT recognized their true potentials and reveal their unfiltered, ferocious selves. Towards the end, the members finally and successfully broke free to embrace the puma within.
