Who would have guessed? PSY creates worldwide buzz
[An editorial of ‘Who Would Have Guessed’ 2012 series]
“Gangnam Style!” The words are all over the place this summer. PSY, the hit maker of Champion and Right Now, has successfully created a new stir. But this time, the 34-year-old solo singer has managed to shake his booty outside of Korea’s frontiers. His self-composed and choreographed title song has propelled the YG artist to a scale even he couldn’t have imagined.
Domestically, PSY, whose real name is Park Jae Sang, has not only made the country start ‘horse dancing’, he is absolutely killing the charts since release. The 816,868 downloads recorded on his first week are a first since the price of downloads went up in Korea last March. PSY is still, to this day, firmly leading the charts and Gangnam Style is expected to challenge the yearly top digital spot for 2012.

Though the bigger feature comes from his music video, which has been the object of constant attention since release. Renowned international artists such as T-Pain and Robbie Williams have praised its awesomeness; and after being depicted on CNN news, it has been reported than Justin Bieber‘s manager has reached out to PSY for a possible American collaboration.
After spending 2011 quietly, PSY has permeated the summer of 2012 with his highly enjoyable Gangnam Style! A new SURPRISE pulled by one of Korea’s most emblematic figure.
