The Incredible 10 Step K-pop Skin Care Routine For Clear Skin
Ever wondered how K-pop idols keep their skin smooth and supple even with their super hectic schedules? K-pop idols are not new to this and both male and female idols take time to take care of their skin. The key is to remove all the make-up, let the skin breathe and moisturize like there’s no tomorrow. There’s something called the 10 step Korean skin care routine, yes 10 steps.
With dermal repair complex ingredients, it promises smoother and healthier skin once you religiously follow it every day. I feel you about the 10 step process, usually mine is just 4 steps and 3 when I’m lazy.
How does this routine work? Let’s find out:
- Make-up Removal
First step is to remove all traces of makeup. Use a gentle makeup remover that’s not too harsh on your skin. There are different types of makeup remover from liquids to creams, find one which suits your skin.
- Cleanser
There’s cleansing oil, creams and facial washes that will help remove dirt, oil and makeup from your face.
- Exfoliate
Koreans opt to use natural scrubs to exfoliate their facial skin and it’s best to just do it twice a month concentrating on areas where black heads usually come out.
- Toner
This helps remove residue that the cleansers and make-up removers left behind. Pick a toner that doesn’t sting your skin or make it dry.
- Essence
This is considered to be a very important step. The essence is said to help speed up cell renewal giving you healthier skin.
- Ampoule/ Serum
We’re not done yet, you still have to add another layer of ampoules or serums. These are more concentrated than the essence and helps whiten the skin, minimize fine lines and fade dark spots.
- Mask
Almost done! Sheet masks are such a rave in Korea and it’s starting to catch up globally. Use these masks twice a week. Sheet masks have that “immediate” effect on the skin and the endless varieties are amazing.
- Eye Cream
If you want to remove those tired, panda eyes then don’t skip on the eye cream. Remember to tap, don’t rub when applying since skin around the eyes is sensitive.
- Moisturizer
Yes, another layer. Massage the moisturizer on your skin gently until it is absorbed and lock in the moisture.
- Night Cream
Lastly! The final step and the finishing touch! The icing on the cake (which is your face). Your face should be getting that “dewy” glow by now. This is to keep your skin hydrated as you rest overnight.
Honestly, I buy lots of Korean makeup products and cleansing creams because the packaging is so cute.
Though I make sure to use them and I always find Korean brands to be more gently yet still effective.
I tried this 10 step routine myself. I have normal to dry skin and I have actually got all the needed cosmetics but after a week I got lazy and couldn’t even make it to 5. Back to my make-up removal, cleanser, toner and moisturizer routine; then exfoliate twice a month. Luckily I haven’t experienced breakouts.
I have read that some routines go way beyond just 12 steps, 15 steps and more! The dedication of K-pop idols and celebrities to skin care is something I wish I would have.
