5 New Korean Dramas To Premiere In August 2018 Featuring Han Ji Min, Song Ji Hyo, Park Eun Bin & Others
As if the initial heat wave is not enough, 2018 August Korean dramas are expected to spice up the romance and novelty stories happening in summery South Korea.
August 2018 Korean dramas are set to boast reliable and well-loved actors who have proven their star power in hit dramas through the years.
As we are still looking for the definitive K-drama rating leader this year, the veteran actors are up to challenge it with their stable following.
The five new stories released in this coming August will join the plethora of interesting genres that are mostly seasoned by love themes and healing stories.
1. Familiar Wife
Ji Sung and Han Ji Min confirmed the deal through their agencies Namoo Actors and BH Entertainment respectively. The romance drama Familiar Wife is reportedly going to circle about a married couple of five years, whose lives change after an unexpected incident.
Familiar Wife boasts a strong creative side, with PD Lee Sang Yeob of Shopping King Louis helming the production, and screenwriter Yang Hee Sung, who penned delightful rom-coms that include Weightlifting Fairy, Oh My Ghost and Highschooler King of Life.
Familiar Wife will open the parade of August 2018 Korean Dramas on the first day of the new month via tvN.
2. Voice 2
Voice 2 depicts the story of a crime fighting police unit – Golden Time. It is an exclusive task force group that solves urgent real-time incidents from phone calls received through the city’s emergency service line.
The Golden Time team was formed in cooperation of the emergency call center and local police officers. Its prime responsibility is to race through the precarious time left for crime victims, who are held captive or being chased by their assailants and save them from the imminent danger.
Lee Jin Wook takes the lead male role as Kang Dong Woo, who is in charge of executing the instructions of Kang Kwon Joo (Lee Ha Na) on the rescue operations.
Voice 2 will kick off on August 11 on OCN.
3. Hide and Seek
A drama depicting the fate of the heiress of a leading cosmetics company, the fate given to another woman who had to live her life instead and the desires and secrets surrounding her is the theme of KBS2 TV’s latest Saturday drama.
Lee Yu Ri (Strongest Deliveryman) will work with Song Chang Eui (The Secret of My Love) in the upcoming melodrama reminiscent of classic series Glass Slippers.
Hide and Seek will be helmed by PD Shin Yong Hwi, who directed Cross, Tunnel and Faith. The drama will air four back-to-back episodes on KBS2 Tv beginning August 11.
4. Lovely Horribly
Lovely Horribly is a work that has been expected by many K-drama fans as the writing concept is the winner of of last year’s KBS TV drama mini series writer contest. Production company HB Entertainment backed up the production of hit TV series My Love From The Star and Yongpal.
The latest romantic comedy project threads on how a man and a woman, who share the same birthday, is magically linked together, sharing reversal of fortunes. So when one is sad, the other is happy.
Park Shi Hoo and Song Ji Hyo are ready to lead you into the romantic ride on Lovely Horribly beginning August 13 on KBS2 TV.
5. The Ghost Detective
Dexterous actor Choi Daniel veers away from romance after his last rom-com Jugglers, and is set to showcase another side of his acting range as a ghost-chasing detective.
Choi Daniel is posed for the role of a former army member, who becomes a detective after being accused wrongfully when he whistle-blew the corruption happening in the military.
Park Eun Bin (Age of Youth 1&2) has affirmed her presence as a main lead in the drama. She is sketched to work side by side with the hero. The actress last played the role of a judge in Doubtful Victory.
The Ghost Detective will be aired in August on KBS2 TV.
