November 2018 Korean Drama Releases: “Tale Of Fairy”, “Priest”, “Encounter” & More
We are down to the last batch of K-stories once November 2018 Korean dramas sail to its premiere dates.
Although we are still a month shy before 2018 ends, I am closing this year’s monthly k-drama list segment with a happy heart. With some series crossing over the first month of January 2019, some of the stories from November 2018 Korean dramas will not be included on our year-end recap and best pick selection.
We get to have some thrillers, drama and romance genres to dominate the narratives for the new roster scheduled to begin in November. Male actors take most of the central figures based on the initially released plot sketches by the TV networks.
Rating game is expected to heat up given that the popular actors with stable following are set to star in this batch of November 2018 Korean dramas.
Below is the lineup of currently airing K-dramas that are expected to end in the next two months.

Now here are the new additions to kick off in November.
Tale of Fairy
Top-billed by Moon Chae Won (Criminal Minds), Yoon Hyun Min (Witch’s Court) and Seo Ji Hoon (My First Love), the upcoming drama is drawing attention for its stellar cast, production team, and network which back up the project.
Moon Chae Won takes the role of a 699-year-old fairy, who is unable to return home, because she has lost her fairy clothes. She then meets two possible reincarnations of her previous husbands, who will be portrayed by Yoon and Seo – a biology professor and biology graduate student respectively.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same title, it is a reimagination of the classic Korean folktale – The Fairy and the Woodcutter.
JS Pictures previously worked with tvN in popular dramas such as Nine Times Travel, I Need Romance trilogy and Twenty Again. Well-loved dramas Heartstrings, Discovery of Love, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and Hwayugi are also included in the production company’s portfolio.
Tale of Fairy is set for its first broadcast on November 5 via tvN.
Feel Good to Die
Based on the webtoon of the same name, KBS’ new workplace drama is attracting attention with its catchy poster, showing the perceived mood of what will be expected on the new series.
Starring Kang Ji Hwan (Children of a Lesser God), Baek Jin Hee (Let’s Eat 3) and Gong Myung (Revolutionary Love) as the main leads, the corporate world setting threads on the story of a boss, who is hated by his staff, and an assistant who gets so angry at him one day that she ends up wishing for his death.
When it happens, she feels remorse and hopes all is just a dream. The next morning, she wakes up and finds that his boss is still alive but the events from her “dream” is unfolding as it is, eventually leading to Baek Jin Sang’s demise. She will try everything to prevent his death from happening
The directors who call the shots in the series recently worked on Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho and Chief Kim. Based on their portfolio, we can expect something nice on this new office-set drama.
Feel Good To Die takes the spot vacated by The Ghost Detective on November 7 on KBS.
God’s Quiz Reboot
OCN’s well-loved forensic and crime investigation drama returns for its fifth season. Dr Han (Ryu Duk Hwan) and Detective Kang (Yoon Joo Hee) reprise their roles to dissect secrets hidden behind rare diseases.
For its fifth installment, Kim Jae Won (Let Me Introduce Her) will join the mainstays, adding an element of extra versatility and talent to its already interesting premise.
God’s Quiz Reboot will be broadcast via OCN on November 14
Top Star Yoo Baek
All-around actor Kim Ji Suk heads to tvN for Saturday-only drama titled Top Star Yoo Baek. Interestingly, he is up to play the role of a top star, who will be involved in a big accident that exiles him to a faraway land, Kangsun, which is known to be a slow city. From there, he is supposed to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, and will also develop a bickering romance with a country girl.
Lee Sang Yeob (While You Were Sleeping) and Jun So Min (Cross) will be joining Kim, adding a buffed cast lineup to the delightful storyline.
Top Star Yoo Baek begins on November 16 via tvN.
Children of Nobody
Children of Nobody is a mystery-thriller about a woman living a perfect life but it turned upside down after an accident. As she tries to recover, she faces mysterious events following her accident.
Kim Sun Ah (Should We Kiss First?) plays the main role, Cha Woo Kyung, a child counselor. Lee Yi Kyung (Partners for Justice) will play the character of Detective Kang Ji Heon. His recent works include characters who provide light atmosphere and comic relief. In this new role, however, viewers can expect the actor to show his rough and manly side. Nam Gyu Ri (Heartless City) portrays the mysterious character Jeon Soo Young. The actress got rid of her signature long hair and showed up sporting a shorter hairdo.
Penning the drama is writer Do Hyun Jung, whose works include classic melodrama Que Sera, Sera and mystery thriller The Village.
Red Moon, Blue Sun will premiere on November 21 on MBC.
The Last Empress
The Last Empress draws the thrilling story of love, conspiracy, desire and revenge happening inside Korean Empire’s royal family.
The drama’s setting is present day South Korea but is under a constitutional monarchy. It tells the story of a musical actress Oh Sunny, who marries the Emperor. She finds camaraderie with a palace guard, Na Wang Sik. Then a tragedy strikes the palace. Oh Sunny and Na Wang Sik will work together as they go against the ones in power.
Jang Na Ra (Confession Couple) plays the character of Oh Sunny, the bubbly musical actress who turns into the Empress, while Shin Sung Rok (On The Way to the Airport) portrays the modern-day Emperor.
PD Joo Dong Min and Writer Kim Soon Ok’s drama portfolios include Return, Birth Secret, Unni is Alive and Five Fingers.
Promise To The Gods
MBC confirmed the new special weekend drama Promise to the Gods is set to star Han Chae Young, Bae Soo Bin, Oh Yoon Ah and Lee Chun Hee in the network’s latest series, which tells the story of two couples who work against all odds to save the lives of their children.
Han worked with romance dramas Delightful Girl Chun Hyang and Only You. After going on a hiatus when she got married, she returned with more recent dramas Bel Ami and Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek. Meanwhile, Bae Soo Bin has worked with notable dramas Secret Love, Dong Yi and 49 Days.
It will be penned by writer Yoon Jae Moon, whose portfolio include Rosy Lovers, A Thousand Kisses and Blow Breeze.
Promise to the gods will begin on November 24.
Priest
Priest eyes to follow the trend through incorporating doctors and exorcists joining hands to defend the lives of innocent and precious people set in a Catholic-owned hospital.
Yeon Woo Jin (Judge vs Judge, Queen For Seven Days) will challenge the role of an exorcist, dedicated to cast off evil as he lost his mother to the devil.
Jung Yu Mi (Partners For Justice) will suit up to portray the role of an ace surgeon of the Emergency Medical Department. After an unfortunate accident which her family suffered, she embarks on a journey to save people’s lives.
Priest will take the spot of The Guest via OCN starting November 24.
Clean With Passion For Now
Clean With Passion for Now sets forth a complicated romance between a hygiene-freak CEO of a cleaning company, Yoon Kyun Sang (Doubtful Victory), who thinks cleanliness is more important than life, and Gil Oh-sol (Kim Yoo Jung), a passionate job hunter who is the complete opposite.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same title, the upcoming drama has received a lot of attention from local and international fans, which raised high exceptions as Kim, Yoon and Song Jae Rim (Secret Mother) who completes the lineup.
Clean With Passion For Now will air on JTBC starting November 26.
Bad Detective
MBC is putting up a fight with OCN in recent crime drama releases. Taking over the time slot of Bad Papa is the much-awaited Bad Detective, an adaptation of BBC’s original series, Luther.
The new drama has tapped brilliant actors led by Shin Ha Kyun (Pied Piper) and Park Ho San (My Mister, Prison Playbook), and will thread on a thrilling investigation and chase of the most dangerous psychopaths.
Orchestrating the production is PD Kim Dae Jin, whose most recent works include Golden Pouch, Kill Me Heal Me and Hotel King.
Bad Detective will be aired on November 26 via MBC.
Encounter
Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo return to the small screen with highly-anticipated work, Encounter (Boyfriend). The new tvN series hints another healing romance drama, which will take pragmatic storytelling on how fated romance blooms between a man and a woman.
Song will portray the role of Chae Soo Hyun, a daughter of a powerful politician and an ex-daughter-in-law of a rich household, who has never been able to live her own life. She accidentally meets Kim Jin Hyuk (played by Park), a man who knows how to treasure happiness.
Together, they start a fateful and moving love story that endures life misfortunes.
With the star power of the two actors, expectations heighten on the beautiful love story that will be drawn out for Encounter, scheduled to air on November 28 via tvN.
