14th Seoul International Drama Awards Announces Final List Of Nominees
28 television dramas and 28 talented individuals from Korea and abroad will be competing in this year’s awards.
Organizers of the 14th Seoul International Drama Awards held a press conference on July 25. In the media conference, which took place at Press Center in Seoul, the panel revealed the list of finalists. The entries received this year set a record for the award-giving body – 270 entries from 61 countries.
Two Korean productions are among the finalists this year. Multiple entries from China, UK, Turkey and Spain also made it to the list. While single entries from Poland, Finland and Austria, among other countries, complete the roster.

Special Labor Inspector Jo is a contender in the Mini-Series Category. Meanwhile, in the TV Movie category, South Korea’s To Jenny will be competing against seven entries. Germany, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Canada and the Netherlands are contending for this award. Four programs from UK, Spain, Israel and Czech Republic will be vying for the award in the Comedy Category.
Three entries from Turkey and two from China are among the finalist in the Serial Drama Category. Furthermore, single entry from Hong Kong, Portugal and Colombia also made it to the list of nominees. The Golden Eyes, a Chinese drama starring EXO’s Lay, landed a spot as one of the entries in said category. It tells the story of a man with psychic ability as he goes through a journey of love, hatred and betrayal.
Individual awards nominees
Apart from the nomination in the Category awards, Special Labor Inspector Jo actor Kim Dong Wook is up for the Best Actor Award in a Mini-Series. He is nominated together with Scottish actor Richard Madden (Bodyguard). Also nominated in the same award is Korean-Canadian actor Paul Sun Hyung Lee for his role in Kim’s Convenience.Actress Shin Hye Sun is in the list of nominees for Best Actress for her portrayal in The Hymn of Death. She is nominated alongside Alicia von Rittberg of Germany (Bauhaus). Directors Gregor Schnitzler of Bauhaus and Park Chan Wook of the UK mini-series The Little Drummer Girl will vie for the Best Director award, among other individuals.
Veteran actor Yoo Dong Geun, the current chairman of the selection committee, expressed happiness with the entries screened this year. “We are delighted that ten Chinese dramas made it to the screening and the cinematic cultural exchange between Korea and China has recommenced”, he proudly said.“This year the Seoul Drama Awards became a much richer drama festival with global audience. I hope that, through the exchange, the drama industry can set a good example and further develop”, he added.
The committee invited foreign actors, including some of the nominees, to be part of the awards show. Actors Kim Nam Gil, Jang Na Ra and Kim Dong Wook will also be in attendance during the awarding ceremony. MC Hyun Jun Moo and actress Jo Bo Ah will take on the hosting duties on the awards night.
Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee and the Korean Broadcasters Association team up to organize the 14th Seoul International Drama Awards.
Awarding ceremony is happening on August 28 at 6PM KST. The venue will be at the Hall of Peace at Kyunghee University.
