32nd Golden Disc Awards In Manila Canceled
Sad news for K-pop fans in the Philippines!
The 32nd annual Golden Disc Awards in Manila has been cancelled with plans to move the ceremony back to Korea. Previously, it was announced that the ceremony would be taking place in Manila over January 10-11 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Early VIP ticket sales also took place on November 26.
In an official release from All Access Production, the reason for the change is “due to the local investor’s failure to comply with their responsibility to the owner of the original Golden Disc Awards Ceremony, JTBC PLUS.”
The release also details that all parties involved with the ceremony decided it would be beneficial to move the ceremony to Korea.
However, the release ends on a hopeful note, with the potential of a GDA Wave in the Philippines event to take place in the first quarter of 2018.
Refund information will be released from All Access Production’s social media accounts.
Since 1986, the Golden Disc Awards has taken place in various countries including Japan and Malaysia. The ceremony’s awards include Disc Daesang, Digital Daesang, Bonsang, New Artist of the Year, and Popularity Award.
Last year’s ceremony honored the achievements of many groups including EXO, Twice, GOT7, BTS, Infinite and many more artists. The line-up for this year’s ceremony has not been announced.
