The 33rd Golden Disc Awards made stars shine at the Gocheok Sky Dome on its second day of handing out recognition to some of the biggest names in the K-Pop industry for the past year!
After celebrating the past year’s best and most remarkable digital releases for its first day on January 5, the awards show focused on recognizing the songs, albums, and artists with the most notable physical releases from 2018 for its second and last day on January 6.
BTS swept the awards show by taking home four awards – with one of them being the prestigious Album of the Year Daesang Award for Love Yourself: Answer.
They were also given two popularity awards, one from U+ Idol and the other from NetEase Music, and walked home with a Bonsang as well.
Other boy groups who received the Bonsang awards are EXO, Wanna One, MONSTA X, GOT7, SEVENTEEN, NU’EST W, and NCT 127.
TWICE was also given a Bonsang award, making them the only girl group to bring one home for the night.
Aside from these K-Pop groups, the late SHINee member Jonghyun was also awarded with a Bonsang. His groupmates Minho and Taemin accepted on his behalf. The awards show also presented a special remembrance video for Jonghyun, with collaged photos of him taken by his fans and fan sites.
Another notable recognition presented during the ceremony was the Rookie of the Year award, which was received by IZ*ONE and Stray Kids. Lastly, Paul Kim was given the honor of taking home the Best OST Award.
