5urprise Ends Contract With Fantagio
5urprise members Yoo Il, Seo Kang Joon, Gong Myung, Kang Tae Oh and Lee Tae Hwan are set to broaden their horizons as they proceed with their own future ventures
On March 31, Fantagio Group, officially announced that the exclusive contract of 5urprise has ended. Launched in September 2013, the group members had since expanded their careers as actors.
In the press release issued by Fantagio, the agency expressed full support to the group as it part ways with the company.
“We decided to support each other’s opinions and support a new path after careful discussion with the five actors before the end of the contract. We would like to express gratitude and hope for the five actors’ generous love and interest in the future,” Fantagio said.
Yoo Il, Seo Kang Joon, Gong Myung, Kang Tae Oh and Lee Tae Hwan debuted in 2013 through web drama After School: Lucky or Not. Since then, each member has carved his presence in the South Korean entertainment scene.
As the sole actor group in South Korea, 5urprise has performed various activities including acting projects, music launches and fan meetings in Japan, China and other Asian countries. They have released three single albums: From My Heart, 5urprise Flight and Shake it Up.
Seo Kang Joon
Solidifying his niche as one of the go-to leading man of his generation, Seo Kang Joon has built a superb acting portfolio. His notable dramas include Watcher, The Third Charm and Are You Human? He currently stars in jTBC series – When the Weather is Fine.

Proving his merits as an actor with variety of skills, Gong Myung continuously shows his diligence to his craft. His notable characters include appearances in dramas – Be Melodramatic, Feel Good To Die, Revolutionary Love and Drinking Solo.
In 2019, Gong is part of the cast of the highly-successful film – Extreme Jobs. The movie amassed over 16 million ticket sales placing second behind The Admiral: Roaring Currents in the list of highest-grossing South Korean films of all time.
Exploring his gift as an actor, 5urprise’s leader has worked on dramas and musicals and theater play. He has appeared in Monster, Casa Valentina and Secretly, Greatly.
Lee Tae Hwan
Actively pursuing his calling as an actor, Lee Tae Hwan has scored supporting and main roles with conviction. He impressed in his portrayals in dramas Pride and Prejudice, W:Two Worlds and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? He is also part of highly-successful family series – Father, I’ll Take Care of You and My Golden Life. His most recent projects are Farming Academy and Touch.
Kang Tae Oh
Lastly, versatile actor Kang Tae Oh has been also achieving remarkable results as he actively commits to characters that left lingering impression to the audience. His most recent works are The Tale of Nokdu, My First First Love and That Man Oh Soo.
